Watercolor art by Wilton artist Barbara Hathaway is featured on publicity
The watercolor illustration by Wilton artist Barbara Hathaway of herself and her two sisters is featured on General Federation of Women’s Club Maine publicity materials.

WILTON – Watercolor illustration by Wilton artist Barbara Hathaway was used on the General Federation of Women’s Club Maine fall meeting program booklet. The illustration also appeared on Pine Tree Notes September and October 2014 issue, stationery, Club Directory and business cards used by GFWC Maine president, Marjorie Goodwin, of Clinton.

Hathaway was asked to provide art that would go with Goodwin’s theme of, Our Past Will Determine Our Future and be compatible with the President’s Project, Elder Abuse Awareness. The art depicts three women, in a variety of ages, posed together,
two standing and one seated, connected by the hands of supporting friendship on the shoulders of the next member. The art will be used for publicity and fund raising.

At the fall GFWC Maine meeting, Hathaway gave an art report and explained that the idea for the art used on the programs, was inspired by a photo of Hathaway and her sisters, Lillian Schanck Guppy of Wilton and Thelma Schanck Lemieux of New Sharon and was taken at their family reunion. Lemieux was since passed away. Hathaway said the art is a tribute to these caring women and to the fact that the past does determine our future and affects the next generation.
