TOPSHAM – The American Cancer Society is looking for licensed cosmetologists throughout Maine who are interested in becoming trained volunteers for its Look Good Feel Better program. Hair stylists, wig experts, and estheticians are invited to a free training session on Monday, May 18 at the Cancer Community Center in South Portland from 10 AM to 3 p.m.

Look Good Feel Better is a free community-based, national service that helps women undergoing cancer treatment learn to cope with the appearance-related side effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatments, and regain a sense of self-confidence and control over their lives. They also have the chance to talk with other cancer patients going through a similar experience.

We need your unique skills and training as a licensed cosmetologist to conduct workshops. Certified volunteers can provide the Look Good, Feel Better program as a group session at a local hospital or community center, or as a free one-time individual consultation at a local salon.

For more information, or to register for the training session, please call Elisa Madore at 207-462-6307 or by email to Elisa.Madore@cancer.org.
