FARMINGTON – Franklin Health Livermore Falls Family Practice, Farmington Family Practice, and Franklin Health Pediatrics are reminding their younger patients to schedule their sports physicals now—before fall sports’ preseasons begin—so there’s enough time to follow up with a concern, if necessary.
The sports physical exam, also known as a pre-participation physical examination, helps determine whether it’s safe for an individual to participate in a particular sport. A good sports physical assesses overall health and detects conditions that might cause injury or prohibit an athlete from playing certain sports.
All area middle and high schools require that student-athletes have a sports physical before they can start a new sport or begin a new competitive season.
