October breast cancer prevention and awareness events taking place

FARMINGTON – Through grant support from Susan G. Komen Maine, staff from Healthy Community Coalition of greater Franklin County (HCC) will be offering breast cancer prevention events throughout the month of October.

At each event, women who are age 40 and older who haven’t had a mammogram within the last year can receive financial assistance for breast health services, assistance in scheduling a mammogram or breast exam, assistance in finding a doctor, and a $25 gas card for transportation needs. In addition, medical providers will be offering clinical breast exams at several of these events.

Event dates and details are as follows:

Thursday, Oct. 6, from 1-4 p.m. at Food City in Livermore Falls.

Tuesday, Oct. 11, from 2-5 p.m. staff will be the HCC Mobile Health Unit at the Farmington Wal-Mart. Nurse Practitioner Sue Eastler will be on board to provide clinical breast exams.

Monday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Farmington Post Office. Nurse Practitioner Sue Eastler will be present to provide clinical breast exams. Anyone who receives assistance in scheduling a mammogram or a clinical breast exam will receive a $5 Tranten’s gift card.

Tuesday, Oct. 18, from 2-5 p.m. on the HCC Mobile Health Unit at Farmington Wal-Mart. Dr. Kimberly Gooch will be on board to provide clinical breast exams.

Monday, Oct. 24, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Farmington Post Office. Dr. Kimberly Gooch will be present to provide clinical breast exams. Anyone who receives assistance in scheduling a mammogram or a clinical breast exam will receive a $5 Tranten’s gift card.

Monday, Oct. 31 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Farmington Post Office. Anyone who receives assistance in scheduling a mammogram will receive a $5 Tranten’s gift card. A Halloween Extravaganza will be provided at the Farmington Post Office from noon-1 p.m. with treats, music, entertainment and more! Dress up in pink or whatever you wish. There will be lots of fun while promoting the importance of breast health.
