CHESTERVILLE – Two selectman positions will be filled next Monday, when residents head to the polls.

Town polls will be open from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. on March 9, at the town office. A 3-year and a 1-year term are up for grabs, with both incumbents on the ballot. For the 3-year term, Selectman William Hastings will be challenged by Paul Caldwell. For the 1-year term, Selectman Scott Gray will be challenged by Patricia Hastings.

The town meeting itself is on March 23 at 7 p.m. An article appearing on the town meeting warrant would actually change the town meeting from Monday to Saturday, and move the voting up to the preceding Thursday.

More information about the town meeting warrant will be posted at a later date.

  1. Scott Gray is an out standing citizen and strong select-person, he is not politics as usual. Scott believes it is your town and he represents you and your best interests. Scott has been and will be an open ear to the citizens of Chesterville, despite taking a lot of pressure over the year for hearing your complaints. Scott protects your privacy despite being told again and again, if the complainant will not come forward, then there is not a complaint. Scott has earned his respect and your trust.

Scott has been following Chesterville’s politics for years, attending and speaking out at select-persons meetings prior to be becoming a Select-person. He is involved, informed and a very strong voice for the citizens of Chesterville. He is financially responsible and looks at the long term benefits of monies being spent.

After becoming a Select-person myself several years ago, I had to figure out who was being honest with me and who was looking out for themselves. After listening and observing town politics, Scott has earned my respect and trust, both as a select-person and as a citizen. That is why I am voting for Scott Gray.

  2. I have known Scott for many years and he will look out for the citizens of Chesterville and rising taxes but can’t do it alone. That’s why I am going to vote for Scott Gray and Paul Caldwell. We need more people
    like them.

  3. I strongly feel that the best chance of controlling TAXES is to stay within the LD1 Tax Levy Limit . This means to vote NO on the article in the town warrant that seeks permission to increase this limit. The state is threatening to reduce or remove revenue sharing from the municipalities along with other incentives that help towns reduce the overall tax commitment. If this is done, then your taxes will increase. The solution to rising taxes is to spend money wisely, not spend more money.

  4. The town residence need to follow their own feelings, and not to be persuaded by political politics.

When one group is out there to sway your vote. Think again for your self and don’t follow the crowd. Changes happen when you stand up for what you believe not what someone else tells you.

You are the one that will have to live with the decision not the ones that won’t be there after trying to sway your vote.

  5. Mr. Scott Gray and Mr. Guy Iverson have worked very hard for the residents of Chesterville. Both men are fiscally responsible and are looking out for your money, as the others on the board want to keep spending. The tax cap is a law, to help control spending. It is absurd that the majority of the select-board would present a budget well over the tax cap. in the amount of $56,000.This election is very important to the residents of Chesterville if they would like to have a voice and control spending.
That is why I would urge you to vote for Mr. Scott Gray and Mr. Paul Caldwell.

  6. As I agree Scott is a good citizen of Chesterville. Scott had a choice of the 1 year seat or the 3 year seat as his name was in for both. Scott decided on the 1 year term, as I knew from the beginning that was the position I would run for. Chesterville has seen many things on paper and less in actions. I don’t know how the whole thing works but what I do know….. IT’S TIME FOR CHANGE!
The town report says that the current selectman all agreed to increase the tax Limit LD1. I don’t know much about this YET, I do know there are many didn’t views. I’m open to learning more and doing what’s BEST for Chesterville.
At the end of the day what’s best for Chesterville is what’s best for Patricia Hastings. Your support for a Change and a new look would be a vote for me.
    Thanks my fellow Chestervillians!
