CHESTERVILLE – Residents will shape the new Board of Selectmen a couple weeks in advance of the town meeting this year, with polls opening Monday, March 13 at the town office.

Three seats are up for reelection this year. Board Chair Guy Iverson is running for reelection against challenger Edward Hastings IV for a 3-year term.

Newcomers to the board Amber-Jean Fuller and Ross Clair are running for the single year remaining on Selectman Paul Caldwell’s term. Caldwell left in December, leaving the board with four members for the last three months.

Selectman Tyler Jenness is running unopposed for his 1-year term.

Polls are open from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the town office on Monday, March 13. The annual town meeting is Monday, March 27.

  1. Please reelect Guy. He’s done a darn good job even when people keep putting him down. I would like to see Scott Gray win as a write in. He was a selectmen before and still helps the town even though he didn’t run last year
He should get Tyler seat. Scott knows what he is doing. Tyler is doing ok but we need less new people right now because lots of stuff needs to be fixed and Scott knows how to do that.

Every vote counts so go to vote on the 13th.

  2. After talking to Mr. Scott Gray about the direction that the town is headed and being sure things are done correctly and legally, he has stated that he WILL ACCEPT A WRITE IN VOTE FOR SELECTMAN FOR THE ONE YEAR SEAT against Tyler Jennes. As a prior board member, Scott researched the issues before voting on them and tried to ensure that any action he voted on was done with the Towns best interest in mind. To keep the integrity of the board going in a positive direction I urge you to consider Scott Gray for the one year term. If you choose to do so, after you write his name in, be sure to check the box, so that the vote will be counted.

  3. Would like to set the record straight I have been researching topics before making a decision. I believe new blood is also essential at times. At the end of the day I vote for what is right for the town not my own personal interest. If you vote for me that’s great if you vote for Scott that’s OK too but get out there and vote.

  4. I feel that Tyler Jenness IS the right choice for the Town of Chesterville. Tyler is a concerned citizen and always keeps the towns best interest in mind. I feel those who believe Scott is a better choice don’t know Tyler very well. Scott is also a great guy however there is a reason he is no longer in the board. Tyler is a hard working individual, who takes everything he does very seriously. Tyler is very passionate about his role as a selectman .

  5. I for one cannot wait to vote. Those of us that were lucky enough to burden the huge 40 – 70% tax increases the last couple years will turn out in large #’s. Don’t be discouraged if your voted out, Maine will need a new governor in a couple years.

  6. If the issue is new people on the Board then why aren’t you recommending Mr. Gray for the one year term Mr. Caldwell vacated? The two candidates running for that position will be the newcomers to the board. I wonder if there is a hidden agenda here?

  7. It sure would be nice to see this nice little town calm down and return to common sense management again. Seems like something is drastically wrong for the past few years has been nothing but fighting over roads and resignation after resignation after resignation, by people who were for the most part doing a GREAT JOB!

  8. Buckshot you are absolutely correct. The problems with this board point to one person. The way some of us were treated and brushed aside during our tax appeals was absurd. Everyone that are in my shoes are voting for Eddie Hastings. Karma is a funny thing.
