EAST WILTON – Three people were transported to the hospital following a near head-on collision on Routes 2&4 Friday evening.

Emergency crews were called to the scene at 8:46 p.m. Friday on Route 2, between the intersections of Munson Road and Cemetery Road.

According to Wilton Police Officer Ethan Keyes’ report, Matthew Johnson, 36, of South Weymouth, Mass., was driving a 2002 Buick sedan east on Route 2 when witnesses said his car crossed into the opposite lane and collided nearly head-on into an on-coming car.

The on-coming car, a 2007 Mitsubishi sedan traveling west on Route 2, was driven by Wade Stone, 45, of Wilton. His daughter, Kerri Stone, 21, was a passenger in the car.

All three people were transported by NorthStar EMS ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital, where they were treated and later released on Friday night.
