CARTHAGE – A domestic dispute which allegedly involved a man pushing a woman into a wall led to an arrest Sunday, after the woman reported the event from another residence.

James Irish, 53 of Carthage, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor domestic violence Sunday, after Franklin County Sheriff’s Department Cpl. Christopher Chase and Deputy Sandy Burke responded to a residence on the Carthage Road.

According to Sheriff Scott Nichols, a woman at the residence had reported that Irish had repeatedly pushed her against a wall several times, causing minor injury. The woman left the residence to go to another residence in another town to report the alleged assault. Maine State Police Trooper Tyler Stevenson interviewed the woman and provided FCSD with information that led to the arrest of Irish by county personnel.
