Franklin County Sheriff’s Department weekly report for July 18 – July 25, 2014:

7/18/2014 Cpl. Nathan Bean investigated a car vs. deer accident on Route 142 in Phillips. There was minor damage to the car, deer died at the scene.

7/19/2014 Cpl. Nathan Reid investigated a noise complaint on the Fish Hatchery Road in Salem. It appears that neighbors were calling State Police and the Sheriff’s Office making noise complaints against each other.

7/19/2014 Deputies conduct traffic control at the Kingfield Festival Days parade.

7/19/2014 Deputy Brann responded to New Vineyard to assisted Trooper Reid Bond in an arrest.

7/19/2014 Deputy Kevin Hartley investigated a trespassing complaint on Blake Hill Road in Phillips.

7/20/2014 Deputy Andrew Morgan responded to Cummings Hill Road in Temple regarding a disturbance call. The complainant called in to report that his neighbor had been having large loud parties and shooting fireworks at night. When the complainant went to talk with the neighbor it became a hostile encounter.

7/20/2014 Deputy Nicholas Zecher responded to Varnum Pond Road in Temple regarding an escort.

7/20/2014 Deputy Morgan investigated a report of criminal threatening on Carthage Road in Carthage. The complainant called to report that a relative had moved back into the area and had been threatened by him already. He was concerned for his own safety. No charges were filed at the request of the complainant.

7/20/2014 Cpl. Bean and K-9 “Diesel” responded to assist Farmington police in locating three males who were harassing females on Front Street.

7/21/2014 Deputy Morgan responded to Cross Road in Avon regarding a report of a fight in progress. A female had been living at the address of her ex-boyfriend and his parents. The ex-boyfriend’s mother asked the complainant to help with the chores. The complainant refused and a physical altercation ensued. No charges were filed; the complainant has left the residence.

7/21/2014 Deputy Morgan arrested an Avon man on a warrant.

7/21/2014 Deputy Hartley investigated a report of theft on the West Road in Chesterville.

7/21/2014 Deputy Matt Brann and Deputy Zecher responded to Rollie O Acres drive in Carthage regarding a disturbance call. The disturbance is between neighbors over a civil issue.

7/21/2014 As a result of an investigation conducted by Franklin Sheriff’s Detective Stephen Charles, deputies of the Sheriff’s Department, and troopers from the State Police and agents from MDEA executed search warrants in Phillips and Strong in connection with a burglary which occurred June 21 at 57 Hunter Road in Strong. Because of the ongoing nature of the investigation no further details will be released.

7/22/2014 Deputy Sandy Burke investigated a report of harassment on Vienna Road in Chesterville. The complainant claims he is being harassed by a person who he had civil paperwork served on for unpaid repair bills.

7/22/2014 Cpl. Chris Chase, Sheriff Scott Nichols, Detective Stephen Charles and Deputy Burke responded to Horseshoe Pond Road in Chesterville for a domestic disturbance. As a result of the investigation Roy Simoneau, Jr., 30, of Chesterville, was arrested on a charge of domestic violence assault against an acquaintance.

7/22/2014 Deputy Brann responded to the Chesterville Fayette town line regarding a report of suspicious activity. A male subject was trying to get a motorcycle up righted after it had apparently fallen. Unknown if it is an accident or not.

7/22/2014 Deputy Colt Bernhardt responded to the Webster Road in New Sharon regarding a report of a suicide threat. A caller from the Affordable Care Act was on the phone with a client who apparently became frustrated with the people she was dealing with on the phone and said she might as well kill herself. The call taker took her seriously and called the police. The client said she wasn’t serious and she would choose her words more carefully in the future.

7/22/2014 Deputy Brann investigated a report of criminal mischief on Cape Cod Hill Road in New Sharon. A Gardiner woman was upset at her ex-boyfriend and was delivering items back to him. She reportedly started throwing tools and hit a man’s motorcycle causing damage. She was summonsed to court.

7/22/2014 Deputy Zecher investigated a motorcycle accident which occurred on the Weld Road in Washington Twp. The operator was transported to the hospital.

7/23/2014 Deputy Bernhardt responded to Sanborn Hill Road in Chesterville for a report of a burglary. It appears the house was last inspected on July 22 and when the caretaker of the property came to check it again he found that rear door of the residence had been pried open. However, nothing appears to be missing from inside and nobody had actually entered the residence.

7/23/2014 Deputy Burke responded to Carthage Road in Carthage regarding an ongoing dispute between family members. A trespass warning was issued.

7/24/2014 Deputy Brann conducted a welfare check on Mile Hill Road in New Sharon.

7/24/2014 Deputy Burke responded to a report of suspicious activity at Strong Elementary School and found it appears it was just two women who used to go to school there were taking a trip down memory lane.

7/24/2014 Deputy Burke investigated what was reported to be a burglary on Norton Hill Road in Strong. On investigation, however it was revealed that the issue is a home that both the complainant and his estranged wife still have joint custody of. The complainant was upset she still has access to the house; he was informed that this was a civil issue since they both are joint owners.

7/24/2014 Deputy Bernhardt conducted a welfare check on Smith Road in Carthage.

7/24/2014 Deputy Burke responded to Carthage Road regarding an ongoing dispute between family members.

7/24/2014 Deputy Brann dealt with a disabled tractor trailer that had broken down on Route 2 next to Tuttle’s Garage in New Sharon. It was the same truck that had broken down earlier in the day in Farmington. Brann called for Trooper Carole Plourde of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit and he put the truck out of service.

7/24/2014 Deputy Zecher investigated a harassment complaint at 482 Cape Cod Hill Road in New Sharon. This is an ongoing issue at this household.

7/24/2014 Cpl. Bean investigated a gas drive-off complaint at Our Village Market in New Vineyard.

7/24/2014 Deputy Zecher investigated a single vehicle accident on Route 27 in New Vineyard. It appears that the accident was caused by a medical issue with the driver. The driver was transported to the hospital.

7/24/2014 Deputy Brann responded to a 911 hang up complaint on Swenson Road in New Vineyard. Misdialed number was the cause.

7/25/2014 at 3:25 pm: Lt. David St. Laurent and Deputy Burke and Deputy Morgan investigated the report of an unattended death that appears to be related to a logging accident in Chesterville. The victim, Seymour Charles, 54, of Skowhegan, was working alone cutting trees at the time. Evidence at the scene indicates he was killed instantly when a branch fell from above striking him in the head and back. The man was found by an acquaintance who called authorities.

Deputies conducted six building checks during this time period all were secure.

    Maureen.It’s too bad the officers have to waste so much time babysitting grown people that should have sense enough to stay away from each other if they can’t get along.
