Franklin County sheriff’s weekly report: Multiple deer hits continue

Franklin County Sheriff’s Office weekly report for Nov. 20 – 27, 2015:

Deputies responded to 165 calls for service during this time period.

11/21/2015 Cpl. Matt Brann responded to Barker Road in New Vineyard to assist Trooper Jed Malcore with person who was high on drugs and being paranoid, he was transported to the hospital.

11/21/2015 Deputy Sandy Burke investigated a child custody complaint on School Street in Eustis. It turned out to be a civil issue no criminal charges.

11/21/2015 Deputy Andrew Morgan investigated a scam which occurred on Bridge Street in Phillips. A person apparently purchased an anti-virus program that was a scam in itself.

11/21/2015 Deputy Morgan and Cpl. Brann responded to a report of a possible night hunter north of Smalls Falls in Sandy River Plt.

11/22/2015 Deputy Colt Bernhardt responded to a car vs. deer accident on the Shaw Hill Road in Industry. The deer died at the scene the car sustained reportable damage.

11/22/2015 Deputy Morgan responded to a car vs. deer accident on the Salem Road in Kingfield. The deer died at the scene the car sustained reportable damage.

11/22/2015 Deputy Burke responded to the Glenn Harris Road in New Sharon for a report of an ATV and dirt bike riding up and down the road. Burke identified the owner of the ATV, his parents were informed and warned.

11/22/2015 Cpl. Brann and Deputy Morgan responded to a disturbance call on Lambert Hill Road in Strong. No charges were filed, however a male was removed from the residence.

11/22/2015 Cpl. Brann and Deputy Bradley Scovil responded to a single vehicle accident on the Salem Road in Salem. The 2002 Dodge Dakota pickup was being driven by Lucas Newell of Salem was traveling eastbound when he lost control, left the road way and struck a tree. There were no passengers, the accident occurred at 12:34 a.m.

11/23/2015 Deputy Burke investigated a missing person complaint which turned out to be unfounded when the missing person returned home in Carthage.

11/23/2015 Deputy Morgan responded to a single vehicle accident on Mile Hill Road in New Sharon. No injuries to the driver the car sustained reportable damage.

11/23/2015 Deputy Morgan conducted a welfare check on Earth Way in Carthage.

11/23/2015 Deputy Bernhardt responded to a car vs. deer accident on the Wilton Road in Farmington. The deer fled the scene the car sustained reportable damage.

11.23.2015 Deputy Burke responded to an accident on the Baker Hill Road in Freeman Twp. where a vehicle ran off the road striking a parked car at the residence. No injuries were reported.

11/23/2015 Cpl. Brann arrested Darcy Smith, 36, of Kingfield, on a warrant after she turned herself in at the county jail.

11/23/2015 Deputy Burke assisted Wilton police with a domestic disturbance on Lothrop Street in Wilton.

11/23/2015 Cpl. Brann responded to a car vs. deer accident on the Farmington Road in Strong. The deer died at the scene, the vehicle sustained reportable damage.

11/23/2015 Cpl. Brann responded to a three-car accident which occurred at 7:50 p.m. at the intersection of Route 2, Main Street and the Industry Road in New Sharon by the bridge. Tyler Hamlin was at the intersection of Main Street and Route 2 waiting to cross over onto the Industry Road in a blue 2004 Ford pickup. At that time a 2009 grey Subaru was being driven westbound on Route 2 by a Valerie Kaplan of New York. Hamlin pulled out in front of the Kaplan vehicle and the two collided, the resulting impact caused both vehicles to crash into a third vehicle, a 1997 Ford Expedition, driven by Sheena Nile of New Sharon which was parked at the intersection of the Industry Road and Route 2.

11/24/2015 Cpl. Brann assisted Farmington police with an accident on the Industry Road.

11/24/2015 Cpl. Brann responded to a car vs. deer accident on the West Mills Road in Industry. The deer died at the scene the car sustained reportable damage.

11/24/2015 Cpl. Nate Bean investigated a trespassing complaint on Lake Street in New Vineyard.

11/24/2015 Cpl. Brann and Deputy Morgan conducted a bail check at a West Mills Road residence in Industry. As a result of their investigation they arrested Scott Osborne, 45, of Industry on charges of Class E violation of conditions of release and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, a Class C felony.

11/24/2015 Lt. David Rackliffe and K-9 Justice assisted Mexico police with a search for narcotics.

11/24/2015 Deputy Morgan responded to a car vs. deer accident on Mile Hill Road in New Sharon. The deer fled the scene the car sustained reportable damage.

11/24/2015 Cpl. Brann responded to a car vs. deer accident on the West Mills Road in Industry. The deer died at the scene the car sustained reportable damage.

11/25/2015 Deputy Morgan assisted Farmington police with a domestic disturbance in Farmington at a local business.

11/25/2015 Cpl. Brann and Farmington Officer Justin Blais responded to Farmington Falls Road in Farmington regarding domestic disturbance. No charges were filed.

11/25/2015 Cpl. Brann responded to a structure fire at an abandon trailer near Tuttle’s Auto Sales in New Sharon. It was determined that a Bryan G Meyers, 29, of Montana has been squatting there all summer long. He left an unsecured fire going inside the trailer while he was at a local restaurant. As a result of being unattended, the fire spread and engulfed the trailer; New Sharon Fire Dept.responded, Meyers has been summonsed for criminal trespass.

11/25/2015 Deputy Morgan responded to a car vs. deer accident on the Mercer Road in New Sharon. The deer fled the scene the car sustained reportable damage.

11/256/2015 Deputy Morgan responded to South Main Street in Strong and arrested Brittney Durrell, 20, on a charge of violation of conditions of release.

11/26/2015 Cpl. Bean responded to a single vehicle accident on Route 142 in Carthage, there were no injuries reported.

11/26/2015 Cpl. Brann responded to Lambert Hill Road in Strong for a domestic disturbance. A woman called because she and her son were having a verbal dispute. The son left the residence. No charges were filed.

11/26/2015 Cpl. Bean investigated a late report of a traffic accident which occurred on the River Road in Carthage.

11/26/2015 Cpl. Brann and Deputy Morgan responded to a single vehicle accident on Route 4 in Strong.

11/27/2015 Cpl. Kevin Hartley responded to Dutch Gap Road in Chesterville regarding a report of suspicious activity at night in the woods.

11/27/2015 Cpl. Bean investigated another complaint of trespassing on the Pit Road in Industry.

11/27/2015 Cpl. Bean conducted a traffic stop on Route 2 in New Sharon for a traffic infraction; as a result of the stop he arrested the driver, Terri Staples, 53, of Farmingdale, on a charge of operating after suspension.

11/27/2015 Deputy Nicholas Zecher investigated a report of an unattended death on North Main Street in Strong. Investigation revealed that the victim had health issues and was being attended to by physicians at Togus.

11/27/2015 Deputy Bernhardt responded to a car vs. deer accident on Route 4 in Strong. The deer died at the scene, no real damage to the vehicle.

11/27/2015 Deputy Bernhardt responded to a single vehicle accident on the Pond Road in Strong where the driver tried to avoid hitting a deer and ran off the road into a ditch. No injuries were reported.

11/27/2015 Cpl. Hartley responded to Church Street in Weld for a child custody complaint. It was determined that the issue was a civil matter.

11/28/2015 Deputy Bernhardt and Cpl. Hartley responded to Sand Hill Loop in Strong for a report of a domestic disturbance. As a result of the investigation, a male is wanted for questioning regarding domestic violence.

Deputies conducted 20 building checks during this time period, three were not secured; deputies also conducted six elder checks.

  1. I spent all hunting season in the woods with a gun and had no success, apparently all I needed was a car.
