Franklin County sheriff’s weekly report: multiple traffic accidents

Franklin County Sheriff’s Office weekly report for Nov. 25 – Dec. 2, 2016:

11/25/2016 Deputy Bradley Scovil responded to the Dixfield Road in Weld regarding a single vehicle accident, no injuries were reported.

11/26/2016 Sgt. Matt Brann, Deputy Andrew Morgan, Detective Stephen Charles and Lt. David St. Laurent and MDEA Agent Gulliver responded in Temple regarding a drug overdose death.

11/26/2016 Sgt. Nate Bean responded to Dodge Road in Avon regarding a distress alarm, it was determined that a person there set the alarm off by accident.

11/27/2016 Deputy Morgan investigated a harassment complaint in Kingfield. It turned out to be a civil issue between former husband and wife over land.

11/27/2016 Deputy Morgan investigated a threatening complaint in Kingfield.

11/28/2016 Deputy Keith Madore investigated a complaint of harassment in Coplin Plt.

11/28/2016 Deputy Morgan investigated a complaint of a tractor trailer driving erratically on Main Street in Kingfield.

11/28/2016 Deputy Morgan investigated a report of suspicious activity on Old Dead River Road in Eustis.

11/28/2016 Deputy Madore responded in Kingfield regarding a reported domestic disturbance. No charges were filed; it is an ongoing issue between three individuals.

11/29/2016 Deputy Sandy Burke responded to a single vehicle accident on the River Road in Avon. No injuries were reported.

11/29/2016 Sgt. Bean assisted CVPD with a single vehicle crash on Route 27 in Carrabassett Valley.

11/29/2016 Lt. David Rackliffe assisted a motorist who was off the road on the Goodwin Road in Carthage.

11/29/2016 Deputy Burke responded to Mt. Abram High School regarding a student who was not supposed to be there.

12/1/2016 Sgt. Bean and Deputy Scovil responded to 212 Mile Square Road in Phillips for a structure fire. The state’s Fire Marshal’s Office was called in to investigate.

12/1/2016 Deputy Burke responded to a single vehicle accident on the Weld Road in Phillips. No injuries were reported.

12/1/2016 Chief Deputy Steve Lowell and Sheriff Scott Nichols responded to a single vehicle accident on Route 4 in Avon. No injuries were reported.

12/1/2016 Deputy Derek Doucette responded to a tractor trailer/plow truck accident on Route 27 in Wyman Twp. No injuries were reported.

Deputies conducted 60 building checks during this time period, all were secure. Deputies also conducted six elder checks.

  1. Were there any calls to towns with local police enforcement , or were they all to unorganized territories and towns with no local enforcement ? We received a letter that went out to many in unorganized territories about raising our taxes to pay for a new cruiser and wages of a deputy to patrol these areas. Whether one is for or against this, a police log shouldn’t be made to push this along.

  2. The Bulldog has had the weekly Sheriff’s Report for years now it has nothing to do with recent tax proposals or the hiring of constables to patrol unorganized territories.
