Franklin County Sheriff’s Office weekly report from Oct. 1 – 21, 2016:

10/1/2016 Deputy Andrew Morgan responded to a trespassing complaint on Chesterville Hill Road in Chesterville.

10/1/2016 Sgt. Kevin Hartley responded to a single vehicle accident on West Mills Road in Industry. No injuries were reported.

10/1/2016 Deputy Derek Doucette investigated an attempted burglary on Anson Valley Road in New Vineyard. Someone attempted to gain entrance into a garage and damaged to exterior door.

10/2/2016 Deputy Morgan responded to a domestic disturbance on Tainter Corner Road in Carthage. No charges have been filed at this time.

10/2/2016 Deputy Morgan investigated a report of gunshots after midnight on School Street in Weld. The source of the alleged shots was undetermined.

10/3/2016 Deputy Morgan investigated a report of possible criminal mischief to a vehicle windshield on Main Street in Kingfield. A Poland Spring tanker driver had his passenger side window blown out by an unknown object.

10/3/2016 Detective Stephen Charles assisted a medical marijuana compliance officer with inspections in the Franklin County area.

10/3/2016 Deputy Morgan conducted a traffic stop on Blake Hill Road in Phillips. As a result of the stop Floyd Firth, 52, of Phillips, was arrested on a charge of operating after license suspension and he was charged with other violations.

10/4/2016 Deputy Bradley Scovil conducted a traffic stop on School Street in Stratton. As a result of the stop he arrested Travis O’Neill, 27, on a charge of operating after license suspension.

10/6/2016 Deputy Morgan arrested Anthony Ellis, 45, of New Vineyard, on a warrant after he turned himself in at the Sheriff’s Office.

10/6/2016 Sgt. Matt Brann responded to a car vs. dump truck accident on the Salem Road in Salem. No injuries were reported.

10/7/2016 Deputy Sandy Burke responded to a report of a possible intoxicated female driver on Leon’s Road in Eustis.

10/7/2016 Sgt. Nate Bean investigated a theft of chickens on West Road in Chesterville.

10/7/2016 Deputy Scovil responded to a car vs deer accident on Route 4 in Rangeley. The deer died at the scene, the car did not sustain reportable damage.

10/7/2016 Deputy Keith Madore responded to West Freeman Road in Strong regarding a domestic disturbance. No charges were filed.

10/8/2016 Deputy Scovil responded to a car vs. moose accident on the Spencer Road in Skinner Twp. No injuries were reported.

10/8/2016 Deputy Burke responded to a loud party complaint on the Prairie Road in Salem Twp. A warning was issued to its occupants.

10/8/2016 Deputy Burke and Dispatchers Gould and Edwards worked together to locate a reported missing man from the Phillips area. The man was late returning from a meeting and eventually returned home.

10/8/2016 Sgt. Hartley responded to Norton Hill Road in Strong to assist State Police with a domestic disturbance.

10/9/2016 Sgt. Hartley assisted Trooper Andrew Hardy with an underage drinking party on the Barker Road in New Vineyard.

10/9/2016 Deputy Burke responded to a car vs. deer accident on the Farmington Road in Strong. Deer died at the scene.

10/9/2016 Deputy Madore responded to Sandy River Farm Supply in New Sharon regarding a theft of gas. The suspect did return and pay for the fuel.

10/9/2016 Deputy Burke assisted Wilton police with a domestic disturbance on Lothrop Street in Wilton.

10/9/2016 Sgt. Hartley and Deputy Doucette responded to Whittier Road in New Sharon regarding a domestic disturbance. No charges were filed.

10/9/2016 Sgt. Bean and Deputy Scovil responded to Withy rd. in New Vineyard to assist Trooper Malcore with an investigation after he arrested Lewis Bamberg (48) of Augusta for theft.

10/9/2016 Deputy Scovil investigated a theft of granite from Griffen Mountain Rd in New Vineyard.

10/10/2016 Deputy Madore and Deputy Scovil responded to a two-car accident on the Mercer Road in New Sharon next to Post Office Road.

10/10/2016 Deputy Scovil responded to a two-car accident on the Falls Road in New Sharon next to Sandy River Farm Supply.

10/10/2016 Deputy Doucette investigated a trespassing complaint on the New Vineyard Road in New Vineyard.

10/11/2016 Deputy Doucette investigated a burglary on Zions Hill Road in Chesterville. Case is still under investigation.

10/11/2016 Deputy Doucette responded to a single vehicle accident on Zions Hill Road in Chesterville.

10/13/2016 Deputy Burke investigated an attempted burglary on Avon Valley Road in Avon.

10/14/2016 Deputy Morgan arrested Daryl Searles, 59, of Avon, on a probation hold.

10/14/2016 Sgt. Bean responded to a report of a loose dog on the Vienna Road in Chesterville.

10/14/2016 Deputy Morgan conducted a traffic stop in Phillips. As a result of the stop, Nicole Waas, 31, of Buckfield, was placed under arrest on a charge of operating after revocation and violating conditions of release.

10/14/2016 Deputy Scovil investigated a report of a suspected road rage incident on Taylor Hill Road in Strong.

10/14/2016 Sgt. Hartley responded to a report of a suicidal female in Temple. She was transported to the hospital.

10/15/2016 Deputy Scovil responded to a domestic disturbance on the Vienna Road in Chesterville. As a result of the investigation three people were summonsed on assault charges.

10/15/2016 Sgt. Brann responded to a two-vehicle accident on the Industry Road in Industry.

10/16/2016 Deputy Scovil responded to a motorcycle accident on the Reeds Mill Road in Madrid. The driver was injured and transported by Lifeflight. No other vehicles involved.

10/17/2016 Deputy Scovil responded to a complaint of donkeys in the road on Route 16 in Stratton.

10/18/2016 Sgt. Bean responded to a car vs. deer accident on Route 16 in Coplin Plt. The deer died at the scene, the car sustained reportable damage.

10/18/2016 Deputy Madore investigated a report of identity theft on the Salem Road in Freeman Twp.

10/19/2016 Deputy Scovil responded to a tractor trailer rollover accident near the Chain of Ponds on Route 27. No injuries were reported.

10/18/2016 Sgt. Bean responded to a car vs. deer accident on Bailey Hill Road in Farmington. The deer died at the scene, the car sustained reportable damage.

10/19/2016 Deputy Scovil and Sgt. Bean responded to a domestic disturbance on the Salem Road in Kingfield. As a result of the investigation, Daniel Roy, 24, of Madrid, was arrested on a charge of domestic violence assault.

10/19/2016 Deputy Doucette responded to West Kingfield Rd in Kingfield regarding a domestic disturbance between juvenile siblings.

10/20/2016 Sheriff Scott Nichols and Lt. David St. Laurent received a complaint of identity theft in Eustis.

10/20/2016 Deputy Scovil responded to the Weld Road in Phillips regarding a report of illegal dumping.

10/20/2016 Lt. David Rackliffe, Lt. St. Laurent, Deputy Doucette, Deputy Madore, Sgt. Bean and Chief Steven Lowell responded to a Phillips residence regarding the report of a suicidal male possibly with a rifle. Upon arrival the male came out of the woods, and denied wanting to hurt himself and denied having a rifle. However, a track conducted by Lt. Rackliffe and K-9 Justice revealed the location of the rifle hidden in the woods. No criminal charges were filed.

10/21/2016 Detective Kenneth Charles investigated a report of child sexual abuse in New Sharon.

Deputies conducted 100 building checks during this time period, one was found unlocked; deputies also conducted 15 elder checks.

  1. What agency does a “medical marijuana compliance officer” work for and what are their guidelines? How many inspections were conducted? Were any violations found?
