SYDNEY – A Jay man escaped injury after the tractor trailer he was operating and loaded with 90,000 pounds of lumber went off Interstate 95 at 6 a.m. Wednesday morning.
State Police said the truck, operated by John Rancourt, 32, of Jay, ran off Interstate 95 in Sidney at mile 115 in the northbound lane. Rancourt, “likely fell asleep,” said Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
“Nearly all of the wood broke loose from the trailer after it slammed into the rock ledge. Truck and trailer were demolished,” McCausland said in a news release.
The travel lane was shut down while the wood was recovered and the wreck removed. The lane reopened just after noontime. Troopers reviewed the Rancourt’s commercial paperwork and no violations were found.
The good Lord was looking after him….
That’s one lucky man.
That’s like, 1 in ten billion. Lumber shifting kills more drivers….
God, and luck..
To GOD be the GLORY!
Anybody need any pressure treated wood?
How exactly does “god” figure into this NEWS story. It’s not church.
Mardens specials!
Yes, zaphod, it’s not church but it is still the US where the constitution says they can speak their minds however they wish. Would you like that changed, so as not to disturb you in your little little world?
I’ll second that .Freedom of speech. AMEN!!!! Thank you Franklinite. God bless.
I do not believe in God but I am a firm believer in peoples freedom of speech. If someone wants to post a comment with “God” in it, deal with it. What harm are they doing? Get over yourself.
I say to all these responses —Get a Life
