CUPSUPTIC TOWNSHIP – A 67-year-old New York man accidentally shot himself in the hand during target practice session late this morning.

The Maine’s Warden Service and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department responded to the report of the accidental shooting in the Rangeley area on Monday. The man, whose name was not available at this hour, was practicing at a firing range when he accidentally discharged the .45 caliber gun. The bullet went through his hand, said Cpl. John MacDonald of the Warden’s Service.

The man was transported to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington with an injury not considered life-threatening, MacDonald said.

While emergency crews from Franklin County responded, the accident actually occurred just across the line in northern Oxford County. Authorities there will be investigating the incident.

  1. So what are you saying hmm that no one from Maine make any mistake. What different does it make where is from as long as he is ok.

  2. I think they always post where a person is from, especially in cases like this where no name was available.
