WEST FARMINGTON – A late morning collision between a pickup truck and a Mt. Blue Regional School District school bus resulted in minor damage and no injuries Wednesday, according to police.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:47 a.m. at the four-way intersection near Madore’s Market where the Town Farm Road, the Temple Road, Oak Street and Bridge Street meet. According to Farmington Police Department secretary Bonnie Pomeroy, a 1994 Mazda pickup truck was traveling from Temple Road to Bridge Street while Bluebird school bus #45 was traveling along the Town Farm Road, when the collision occurred.

The pickup truck struck the passenger-side’s rear panel, causing minor damage to both vehicles. No one was hurt in the collision.

According to Pomeroy, the operator of the bus, Paul Conant, 59 of Jay, and the 16-year-old operator of the truck both said that the other vehicle rolled through the stop sign. Complicating matters are the statements by two, independent witnesses. One witness said the pickup truck rolled through the stop sign, while the other says the bus did.

No charges have been filed by police. Both vehicles were driven from the scene, although MBRSD did send another bus to transport the 12 students that were on board.

The bus was making afternoon drop-offs in conjuncture with the district’s early release time.
