FARMINGTON – Police say a local man threw a table in a roadway to stop a 16-year-old’s vehicle, claiming the exhaust was too loud, then threatened the juvenile and his family and punched him in the face.

Charles Hubbard, 57 of Farmington, was arrested and charged with terrorizing and assault Sunday, following an incident which occurred Sunday afternoon on the Webster Road. He was later issued a summons for criminal mischief in relation to that incident, after the alleged victim reported his vehicle’s taillight had been broken.

According to Deputy Police Chief Shane Cote, the 16-year-old came into the Farmington police station at 2:25 p.m. Sunday afternoon to report that a man had thrown a table in front of his vehicle. When he exited his vehicle to inquire about the man’s actions, the juvenile told police, the man had informed him that he was “tired of his loud exhaust” and punched him in the face.

During the course of the interaction, Cote said, the juvenile told police the man also threatened him and his family.

Police used a picture to reportedly identify the man as Hubbard. Officer Derek Doucette and Officer Bridgette Gilbert located Hubbard, who admitted to talking to the juvenile about his loud exhaust but denied all criminal conduct. He was arrested and transported to Franklin County Detention Center by Doucette.

The juvenile later returned to the station to report that his taillight had been broken during the incident. Hubbard was issued a summons for criminal mischief.
