RANGELEY – Town officials announced this week that a new code enforcement officer has been hired to oversee the town’s zoning and planning ordinances.

Amanda Lessard, of Winslow, will work for the town full-time as the code enforcement officer, replacing long-time CEO and former road commissioner David Errington. According to Town Manager Timothy Kane, Lessard has ties to the Rangeley region and intends to move into the area.

Lessard has planning experience at the municipal and state level, having previously worked for the State Planning Office. She’ll begin work on June 22, giving her a few days with Errington, whose contract runs out on June 30.

Errington resigned as the CEO in Sept. 2010 and then was rehired by the town, covering both Rangeley and Mexico.

Kane said Lessard’s salary was currently being negotiated.
