FARMINGTON – The second suspect in the theft of $50,000 of cash and jewelry from a Wilton home admitted to Class C felony charges in court Tuesday, as part of a two-year deferred disposition agreement.

Brandyn Kendall, now 18 of Farmington, was 17 when he and Brian Durrell, 18 of New Sharon, entered a Wilton residence while the homeowners were on vacation and took $1,200 in cash and a jewelry box containing $50,000 worth of rings and bracelets. Upon returning home, the family reported the theft and a witness later recalled seeing Durrell’s truck parked in the driveway.

Police eventually tracked the stolen jewelry down to second-hand stores and a Bangor pawn shop, recovering several pieces. Jewelry valued at $28,822.68 remains unaccounted for, with some gold bracelets sold to the pawn shop melted down and other pieces sold by the time police contacted the owner.

Kendall, who was a juvenile when the criminal conduct occurred, admitted to Class C burglary and Class C theft. Sentencing was deferred until Oct. 25, 2016, with conditions of his release to include random search and test for drugs and alcohol, no contact with several individuals and the payment of $28,822.68 in restitution with Durrell to the victims.

Upon the conclusion of the two-year deferred disposition agreement, Kendall will be allowed to withdraw his guilty pleas and plead instead to misdemeanor theft, if all conditions are met. If they are not met, he will be sentenced on two felonies.

  1. Criminals are getting younger and younger these days. These incidents are a reflection that something is wrong with some of the families in the modern setting. These kids weren’t guided well when they were growing up. This is the responsibility of parents and the teachers. At a young age, kids should be directed towards the right way.

  2. Parents and def not teachers are not always responsible for the actions of their children Respect is lost and I personally know good parents who r held hostage by their children and actions Spare the rod perhaps or not

  3. Teachers??? Teachers do not, in any way, have any say in how kids get raised today. If your going to run your mouth, know what you are talking about. I raised 2 kids, and I didn’t spank them. They both turned out to be very well behaved young adults. Yes, parents have a big say in how kids turn out in todays world.
