FARMINGTON – South Street, one of several streets that connects Main and High, will be closed next Monday, Aug. 26, and Tuesday, Aug. 27, to allow the University of Maine at Farmington to put down sod on top of a field of geothermal wells.

The street will be closed for the work day, as UMF put the finishing touches on a system of geothermal wells near Mantor Library.

Other side streets, such as Academy, will remain open.

  1. “for the convenience of the college” ??

South street IS the college. There’s nothing else on it. Not a big deal if they close what is pretty much their own road anyway.

  2. Complain a little more about one of the bigger employers of the area. Maybe they will move out and you can drive anywhere you please. Maybe complain about more businesses and you can have the whole town could be renamed West Farmington.
