FARMINGTON – Two men were arrested over the weekend in two separate driving incidents.

Juan Cano, 21, was arrested and charged with criminal speeding and driving without a license on Saturday evening.

According to Officer Michael Lyman’s report, he clocked Cano’s car going 70 mph along the 40 mph Wilton Road near Irving’s Big Stop. Once he stopped the car, Lyman reported Cano, originally from Massachusetts, was charged with not having a Maine driver’s license even though he’s been living here for more than 30 days and with going 30 mph over the posted speed limit.

In a separate case, James Mackin, 27, of Temple, was arrested and charged with failure to stop for an officer, attaching false license plates and operating with vehicle with a suspended registration.

At 9:30 on Sunday morning, Farmington Officer Derrick Doucette, was parked in the lot at Madore’s Market in West Farmington and said in his report he observed a man pumping gas into a sedan who was acting nervous.

Doucette ran the license plate and allegedly found it had expired and belonged to a Chevy pickup truck. The driver of the sedan took off at a high rate of speed from the gas station, the officer said in his report, and turned on to Temple Road.

Doucette pursued the sedan with his blue emergency lights flashing. The car didn’t stop, the officer reported, and turned on to Morrison Hill Road but had to slow down for a truck turning at the Voter Hill Road intersection. Doucette said he was able to catch up to the vehicle and Mackin was arrested.

Cash bail was set at $750 and a court date of Nov. 24 was scheduled.
