FARMINGTON – A Temple woman was arrested Sunday night after police say she was driving erratically and assaulted an officer as he attempted to take her into custody at a gas station on Main Street.

Farmington Officer William Tanner IV reported he saw a vehicle going about 60 mph in a 25 mph section of Front Street at 9:35 p.m. Sunday. He followed the vehicle and watched it slow at the stop sign at the intersection and make a right turn onto Main Street. As it did so, Tanner said the vehicle hit the curb and, “I could see the right tires of the vehicle off of the ground about 3 or 4 feet,” he said.

He continued to watch and said the vehicle turned into the parking lot of the Circle-K Irving gas station. A witness told police later she nearly hit a another vehicle pulling into the McDonald’s parking lot on the corner of Front and Main streets.

Tanner said he pulled around to the back of the Irving’s building and saw a woman get out of the vehicle.

“I ordered her back in the vehicle, but she started back pedaling towards Main Street,” Tanner said in the arrest affidavit. “I gave her several commands to stop, but she refused,” he said, and then she continued moving away and backed into a truck getting gas.

Tanner reported he attempted to arrest the woman, who was later identified as Sarah B. Sullivan, 33, of Temple, “but she started to kick me and dig me with her fingernails.” Other officers arrived and assisted in getting Sullivan handcuffed.

She was transported to the Franklin County Detention Center, charged with operating under the influence, felony reckless conduct with a motor vehicle (as a dangerous weapon), assault on a police officer, refusing to submit to arrest, and unlawful possession of a Schedule X drug, namely hash oil.

In court on Monday, cash bail was set at $500. Conditions of release are no use or possession of alcohol or illegal drugs and to submit to police searches without the need for probable cause. A court date of April 30 is scheduled.

  1. We are reading this type of thing everyday now. what is the world coming 2, we will see a lot more of this type of thing if the democrats leagleize the use of pot, I am ok with the medical use of this drug for the people who really need it, but not for recreational use, I think people should think about this long and hard before we let the genie out of the bottle, there was a reason why we tried to stop the use of this drug, becouse it does lead to other drugs the people who smoke it will argue this, that’s becouse they want it, and no alcohol is no different, but the drug use in franklin and other surrounding counties is getting out of control, I feel real bad for the next generation

  2. Are you kidding me? Assault with a deadly weapon (vehicle) and she’s out on $500 cash bail? Good grief………..

  3. @ Wake Up….If she had been smoking the hash oil, then she wouldn’t have been out driving around. She would have been home in Temple. She would have been sitting on the couch eating Doritos and watching re-runs of I Love Lucy. Marijuana and derivatives from it will soon be legal. Please learn the facts. Better yet, go smoke some and enjoy the munchies you’ll eat and the TV shows you’ll watch .

  4. @OverGoverned…….. You are trying say “WHAT?”

If anybody needs marijuana or a ‘derivitive’. PLEASE STAY HOME. Don’t kill me…….or my kids/grandkid/besties/brothers/neighbors because you think you are entitled to drive while impaired. (SAME FEELING I HAVE FOR DRINKERS/DRIVERS!!!!)

God, I’m OLD and dumb! NO CLUE about ‘hash oil’…………

Am inclined to think that legalized ‘weed’ might be helpful to people who are GENUINELY ILL from chemo, etc. (as opposed to the dreg

That said, IF I’m barfing from chemo, I will send anybody on two legs out to bring home The Solution and inhale deeply!!!

Having said that, this legalization that is coming is going to be so God-Awful in so many ways!…….

  5. OverGoverned makes a good point.

Even though “drugs” have not been legalized, the most people who USE them aren’t out doing dumb stuff. If a “pot” smoker uses OverGoverned is right. They tend to stay home and eat and sleep. I will admit that there are some who like a drinker doesn’t use any common sense and get onto the streets and think they are safeto operate, but in my opinion we do not read about “pot” smokers as much as other more harmful drugs these days. What it all boils down to is people need to use some form of judgement. I do not believe that all common sense is gone when someone smokes “pot”.

I have never heard of has oil and do not know its effects.

The world is changing and although some of us may not like it, It looks like marijuana will be legalized in the near future. It will be interesting to see how the state handles the regulations that may go with it.

  6. I am amazed that in 2015, so many still have such archaic views on pot. Do some research before you start spouting the same retoric that was pushed on past generations by politicians.

  7. Yes it’s 2015. Very good.

This stuff has the exact same effect on a human that it always has.

    What’s different is politics.
    Nothing else.

Funny how you guys selectively describe only “some” of it’s effects.
But admitting that it motivates you to “Sit and eat while watching tv”,,AS IF that’s a good healthy thing.
Well I guess it is better than all the other very real negative effects that you “users” are in denial about.
Enjoy paying the taxes on this crap…cause we do need the money.
    Thanks.

  8. I say… if it feels good… do it… It will all come out in the wash.. We are on a downhill slide… When we hit bottom and end up in a pile of crap some will pick up the pieces and move on… the others will be taken care of one way or another…. That is the way it has always been and will always be.. We are now in are in the ‘ ME World’….’ I want it, I deserve it and I want it now’……… Don’t worry, be happy… Life is tough Sometimes you might think….. it just ain’t worth the struggle.. It is, really, so don’t give up…

  9. Seriously Weed Is Not A Drug Get Over Your Selves Already I Myself Dont Give A Rats Ass If Your Republican Or Democrat Either Way The Worlds Coming To An End! Plain ANd Simple !!!!!

  10. Here’s a rather novel thought to combat the increasing problems with drugs – CREATE JOBS. We are now into at least a 2nd generation of people who have only know poverty due to the factories closing all over the wonderful country built by our ancestors’ hands. Greed of hundreds of company owners sent the jobs that supported our towns and cities overseas. They continue to benefit from their choices, but look at what is happening in our country now. Poverty, slums, our children not getting even one good meal a day, crime, drugs, elder abuse…..need I go on? We (as a country) condemn how other countries treat their citizens, but are we in a position to really pass judgment? Maybe we should be focusing taking care of our issues and when we are in a good position and can afford to, help others. Charity does begin at home. Just sayin…….

  11. Alcohol has done more misery and damage than any drug in the history of man.

  12. Time for a town hall meeting to discuss everything from crime to curfew and more. All surrounding areas invited as well…Greater Farmington Town Hall Meeting. Let’s organize this and make it so everyone has an equal say about what is happening and NOT happening in our town(s).

  13. You don’t want to try to implement a curfew for 33 year olds, do you? That would REALLY mean “OverGoverned!” Or perhaps “help” young folk by treating them like criminals at 17? (“Footloose”….great)

Until people are required to be more independent (less cushy trampoline to fall into when things go wrong), you will see more and more (and more) of this, just like in the cities. As stated, generations that got “help” all thru life are now unable to do the right thing and be responsible.

People in general – us – are morons – they do stupid things. If you are lucky, you outgrow it. If not, you get in trouble. There are places to get help, programs that will come to YOU. WE don’t need to restrict OUR freedoms to THEM – no way! End of story.

A story that’s as old as the sun….
