NEW YORK, N.Y. – Albert Theodore Raedle — author, painter, beloved father and husband, teacher, school board member and selectman — passed away at 11:48 p.m. on Nov. 19, 2014, in his hometown of New York City. He was 77.

Albert studied at Colby College in Maine and received his BA from Columbia University in New York with a small stint as a “Yank” at Oxford University in London. He enjoyed a rebellious youth, hitchhiking across the nation and collecting stories that would inspire a desire to write, draw and paint. He met his future wife Carolyn, also an artist, on Bliss Street in Sunnyside and lived in Sunshine at the time of his death.

For 50 years, the family called Vienna, Maine home, which remains the primary residence.

During his life, Albert was passionate about righting wrongs. He encouraged all those he came into contact with to pursue excellence and follow their dreams, whether it was education, arts, sports or professional careers.

Albert took his last breath following a long battle with lymphoma and subsequent health issues. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his death and while his presence will be terribly missed, his journey continues and the indelible marks he left behind will always be cherished.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn, four children: Dianna, Will, Joe and Dan, as well as, daughters-in-law: Maeve, Nancy and Donna.
