She was born on March 27, 1918, to the parents of Lyman and Rose (Curtis) Tracy and attended school in New Sharon before marrying Frank O. Osborne on March 27, 1933 in Rome.

Alice had fond memories of their time that they lived on Mt. Blue before moving to McCrillis Corner in Wilton. Alice and her family traveled around the area a bit more before settling on a farm on the Osborne Road in Farmington, where she and her husband ran a successful dairy farm and raised their 13 children.

Alice is survived by 11 of those children: Francena Grant of Abbingdon, VA.; Elizabeth Moulton and her husband, Robert of Caribou; Eleanor Jackson and her husband, Lawrence of W. Farmington; Frank W. Osborne of Industry; Elsie Phillips and her husband, Albert of New Sharon; Margaret James and her husband Lauris of Farmington; Rachel Chick and her husband, Freeman of Industry; Josephine Boutilier and her husband, David of Sanford; Koren Velez of Wilton; William Osborne and his wife, Sandra of Farmington; Cheryl Barkow and her husband, Lawrence of Farmington and family friend Geraldine Lovejoy of Farmington; three dozen grandchildren and, at last count, 67 great-grandchildren and 31 great-great grandchildren.

She was very proud of her large family and loved rocking babies. For many years after her own children were grown, Alice babysat her grandchildren and the neighborhood kids.

Alice enjoyed watching the deer, hunting, walking, playing cards, reading and knitting. For many years, she knit all of her grandchildren double knit mittens. She also enjoyed keeping up with the family and neighborhood news.

She was predeceased by her husband, Frank; son, Oliver O. Osborne; daughter, Helen P. Osborne; great-grandson, Jacob Chick; son-in-law, Donald Grant; daughter-in-law, Evelyn Osborne and her seven brothers and sisters.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Rd., (Rtes. 2 & 27) Farmington, Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. There will be no funeral service. Public graveside services will be held later in the springtime at the Osborne Family Cemetery, date and time to be announced.

Remembrance gifts may be given in her memory to the Franklin Cty. Animal Shelter, 550 Industry Rd., Farmington, Me. 04938. Tributes and condolences may be shared on her memorial wall at www.wilesrc.com.

  7. Alice had a long and wonderful life. Every time we visited her she would have a story to share with us about growing up with my grandmother (her sister). She was a kind and wonderful soul who will hold a place in anyone’s heart who had the pleasure of knowing her.
