FARMINGTON – Alice Waddington Price of Farmington died peacefully in her sleep on July 29, 2014. She was 92.

Born in Woodstown, N.J., to Edward C. and Mary Allen Waddington, in 1940 she graduated from the George School in Newtown, Penn. In 1942 she married Harrie B, Price, 3d. Over the next 50 years they lived at the Westtown School in Pennsylvania, in Moorestown, N.J., and in Penobscot. They spent every summer at the boys’ camp Flying Moose Lodge in East Orland, Maine.  When her husband died in 1992 she moved to Farmington to be near her son and daughter-in-law.

In Farmington she was a frequent volunteer working for the Safe Visitor Program, the Farmington public schools, Franklin Memorial Hospital, and the Food Closet.  She was an active member of the Farmington Friends Meeting and in the summer time participated in the Narramissic Friends Meeting in Orland, Maine.

She is survived by her daughters Polly of Cambridge, Mass. and Margaret Sunderman of Bradenton, Florida, her son Christopher of Bar Harbor,  and her daughter-in-law Holly of Farmington. She leaves 12 grandchildren and step-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Her other son Harrie B. Price, IV, died in 1994.

A memorial service will be held in Farmington Saturday, Aug. 30 at 2 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 612 Farmington Falls Road. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust in Orland, Maine.

  1. Alice was a WONDEFUL lady! I looked forward to seeing her on Thursday’s when she volunteered at FMH. She will be missed by her famliy and friends. RIP my dear friend.

  2. I remember Mr. Price (son), 5th grade I think it was, from the Academy Hill School in Wilton. He was a good man who obviously came from a great family. My condolences to the whole family.

  3. She always had a smile when she walked through the door of the Fitness Center.

  4. I’ll always remember Alice as a gentle spirit. Alice served mankind in multiple ways and never sought recognition for her efforts. I enjoyed her smile and sense of humor. We’ve shared a long friendship, she will be missed and remembered.
