WINSLOW – Andrew James Harfoush, 49, died unexpectedly Sunday, November 26th at his home in Winslow, Maine. He was born November 26, 1963 in Waterville, the son of Kelley and Joanne (McFarland) Harfoush.
Andrew graduated from Winslow High School and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy and returned to Maine where he worked as a manager for over 15 years at various Hannaford supermarkets.
From a young age Andy was always a free spirit. He enjoyed time with his family especially his children. He had an infectious laugh and was always very generous with a great sense of humor. He loved sports, especially the Red Sox, Patriots, and Bruins and was athletic in his youth excelling in basketball and baseball. Andrew also had huge compassion for animals as shown by his community service at the local humane society. Andy loved to talk about current events and was very interested in the recent presidential election.
He is survived by his father, Kelley Harfoush of Winslow; son, Jason Harfoush of China; daughter, Jennifer Johnson of Clinton; brother, Daniel and wife Stephanie Harfoush of Standish; brother, John and his wife Belinda Harfoush of Ogunquit; sister, Karen and husband Michael Michaud of Winslow. Andrew also had two grandchildren, Lyrik Harfoush age 6 of China and Isaac Johnson age 4 of Clinton. He was predeceased by his mother, Joanne (McFarland) Harfoush.
There will be a small, informal Celebration of life on Friday, December 7, 2012 from 2-4 PM at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship Church on Rt. 201 in Vassalboro. If people would like to make a memorial contribution in lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Waterville Humane Society, 100 Webb Road, Waterville, ME 04901, because of Andrews love for all animals.
