Annie was born on Aug. 28, 1922 in Parkers Ridge, New Brunswick, Canada, one of 11 children of James and Mary (Taylor) Boies. She was educated in the schools of Fredericton and Boiestown, New Brunswick, Canada. As a young woman she worked at a drug store in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, as a cosmetician and eventually became one of the cosmetics buyers and attended sales conventions in Montreal and Toronto.

In 1960, Annie moved from St. John, New Brunswick, Canada to Farmington. On April 7, 1961, she married Charles W. Norton (“Whitey”) and together they owned and operated Norton’s Music Store on Church Street in Farmington, retiring from the business in 1979. Mr. Norton passed away in July of 2001. Besides her regular work, Ann liked care giving and was kind to the elderly. She cared for her loving husband and his mother Maude Preston Norton, and her own mother. She kept them in their homes instead of nursing homes. She enjoyed reading, watching TV, and eating doughnuts.

Annie is survived by her step daughter, Myrna Norton Moran and husband Murray Cohen of New Jersey; her three step grandsons, PK Moran, Tim Moran and John Moran of New Jersey; her sister in-law, Beatrice Boies of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada; her niece by marriage, Hazel Doak of Farmington; her nieces, Betty Carmichael, Jane Brewer, Lisa Boies Embleton, Reta Russell, and Carol Parmagine, all of Canada; her special friends, Alice Walden of Greenville and sons, Kendall and Cameron; Corine and Robert Taylor, Loretta Doak, Johan Dittmer, all of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada; and the little dog, Sophie Bair, that she loved so much and looked after many times and who provided her with much love and entertainment.

She was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband of 40 years; her sisters and brothers; her special nephew, Nelson Doak.

There is a very warm and heartfelt thank you for the nurses, home health aides and volunteers of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice who enabled Mrs. Norton to stay in her home, and for their gentle presence and caring, and also for friends who helped to support her request to remain at home.

Donations in Annie’s memory may be made to the Maine Cancer Foundation, 170 US Route 1, Suite 250, Falmouth, ME 04105 or to the Franklin County Animal Shelter, 550 Industry Road, Farmington, ME 04938.

Graveside funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the Riverside Cemetery, Farmington with Rev. John Tolman officiating. At her request there will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dan & Scott’s Cremation & Funeral Service, 488 Farmington Falls Rd., Farmington, ME 04938.
