Antti A. Pulkkinen (1925-2015)

CANTON – Antti A. Pulkkinen, 89, a resident of the Victorian Villa Rehabilitation & Living Center, and long-time resident of Hartford, died on Saturday evening, Jan. 24, 2015, at the Androscoggin Hospice House.

He was born in Turner on March 27, 1925, to Matti and Mary Pulkkinen. Antti served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and worked for H.K. Webster/Blue Seal Feeds, retiring from their Augusta location.

He married Marguerite Bragg on Feb. 25, 1955.

He enjoyed going for a walk each morning and afternoon, cutting his firewood, and tending his vegetable garden. He especially enjoyed attending the local fairs to watch the horse pulling and looked forward to his Saturday ride each week with Randy.

He is survived by his two step-daughters: Linda Gammon of Canton and Judy Farrington and her husband, Maynard of Jay; five grandchildren: Scott Farrington and his wife Jennifer of Jay, Melanie Farrington of Augusta, Randy Gammon of Canton, Steve Gammon and his wife, Janice of Hebron and Elaine Ferland of Canton; great-grandchildren: Devyn and Cody Gammon, Alex and Lauren Ferland, and Megan Chase; brothers: Peter and his wife Margaret of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Richard of Bedford, Mass.; sisters-in-law, Iva Graves and her husband, Butch of Temple, and Beulah Brown of Hartford; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Marguerite; brothers: Onni and Reino; sisters: Mary, Hilma, Elena, Sylvia, Elvi and Myra and a daughter, Sandra.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial visitation on Friday, Jan. 30, from 10 to 11 a.m. with a memorial service beginning 11 a.m. at Wiles Remembrance Center, 308 Franklin Rd., Jay, ME 04239. All are welcome to attend the reception being held directly after the service at the center.   1. Our sincere condolences to Linda, Randy , Elaine and the rest of his family. I did not know him but heard stories about him. RIP
