Archibald H. “Archie” Herrmann (1934 – 2013)

WILTON – Archibald H. “Archie” Herrmann, 79, of Wilton, passed peacefully at his home, shortly after being visited by the Mormon missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, on Sunday evening, Dec. 22, 2013.

He was born Dec. 8, 1934 in Middletown, CT., a son of Valentine George and Adeleingeunda (Hettlinger) Herrmann. He enlisted at a young age in the United States Navy, (attached to the U. S. Marine Corps). He was stationed primarily in Germany, and was very proud of his military service. Archie later earned his GED. He was employed at Forster’s Manufacturing for 35 years before retiring in 1999.

Archie was a faithful member of Red Sox Nation and always kept his weekday “date,” watching GH with his beloved wife of 27 years and his faithful dog, Chloe, in the comfort of their living room.

He leaves his wife, Priscilla (Ladd) Guptill, whom he married on Dec. 20, 1986; his daughter. Shelly Howard and husband, Sherman, of Chesterville, and their sons, Scott and John; his stepchildren: Carolee Hand, of Starks, and her children: Edward and George Hand, and Billie Jo Krebbs; Cindy Taylor and husband, Ron, of Auburn, and their sons: Brian, Scott, and Matthew; Roger Guptill and wife, Nancy, of Mechanic Falls, and children, Bobby, Tyla, and Eric; George Guptill and wife, Audrey, of Wilton, and children: Sam Thompson and Hannah Guptill; Becky Richardson and fiancé Kurt, of Auburn, and her sons: James, Derrick, Brandon, and Justin Richardson; Dottie Brackett and husband, Kendall, of Jay; Rodney Guptill and wife, Lisa and children, Nathan Guptill and Nicole Arsenault of Turner; Tina Sanborn and husband, Kevin of Buckfield and children: Carl Sanborn, Amanda Guptill, and Ricky Sears; two sisters: Dolly Badrick, of Glastonborough, CT.; Jessie Kulmacz and fiance, Joe Esposito, of Middletown, CT., nieces and nephews.

Public memorial graveside services with full military honors will be held on Saturday morning May 17, 2014, at 11 AM at Lakeview Cemetery, Wilton. The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, remembrance gifts be given to Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice 15 Strawberry Ave. Lewiston, Me. 04240.   1. Shelley and family. I’m sorry about your Dad. May he rest in peace. Losing a family member is always tough, but this time of years seems to make it worse.
