Barbara L. Nutting (1923-2014)

INDUSTRY – Barbara L. Nutting, 90, of Industry, passed away early on Easter Sunday morning, April 20, 2014 at her home in West Mills surrounded by her family.

She was born in Farmington Falls on Oct. 12, 1923, the daughter of Harry J. and Ella A. Pressey. She attended school in Farmington Falls and worked a few jobs locally while raising her family. Barbara’s longest career was at Forster Mfg. for over 25 years, retiring in 1972. A year later she met Otto C. “Ted” Nutting, they were married on Aug. 17, 1973.

She was a past member of the O.E.S. in New Sharon, the Hiawatha Grange in Farmington Falls, and the Church of the Nazarene in Skowhegan. Barbara enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as gardening, fishing, reading and cooking.

She is survived by two daughters: Erlene Millett of Lisbon Falls and Lisa McGowan and her husband Daniel of Industry; five sons: Chester Millett and his companion Charlene of Chesterville, Colin Millett and his wife Elaine of Starks, Randy Millett and his wife Sandy of Industry, Jeff Ryder and his companion Lisa of Mercer, and Thomas Ryder of Industry; two step-daughters: Rachel Marble of Wilton, and Susan Cook of Belfast; nine step-sons: Carroll, Colby, Roger, James, Robert and Randy Ryder, Robert, Junior, and David Nutting; many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren and two special granddaughters; Elizabeth Tracy and Courtney Ryder; a sister Thelma Kendall of Sumner, many nieces, nephews and cousins, and special extended family Cheryl Ryder.

She is predeceased by three sons: Mitchell, Daniel, and Robin Millett, her husband Colby Ryder and four brothers: Phillip, Clinton, Everett, Bernard; two sisters: Agnes and Dorothy .

Barbara loved the Lord her God with all her heart, with all her soul, and with all her mind.

The family would like to thank Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for all they did.

A private memorial service will be held by the family later this summer. Donations may be made in her memory to American Diabetes Association 1701 North Beauregard Street Alexandria, VA 22311.
