Beatrice B. Hapeman (1933-2015)

FARMINGTON — Beatrice (Boiley) Hapeman, 82, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. She was a long time resident of Mt. Vernon, Maine, and both Dutchess and Putnam counties in New York.

Beatrice was born on Sept. 28, 1933, in Solon, Maine. Bea graduated from Maine Medical Center and was a practicing Registered Nurse for several years, taking time out to raise her four children. She had moved to New York after marrying and eventually moved back to Maine in 1995.

Bea loved to bird watch and was always thrilled to see and hear the loons on Flying Pond where she and her husband Stan had resided for many years. She was a true animal lover, having a special place in her heart for her wonderful dog, “Venus,” was an avid reader, enjoyed puzzles, and made a difference in the lives of those she touched.

She will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Stan Hapeman of Farmington; three of her children: Scott Buchanan and his wife, Mara of Balston Lake, N.Y., Karen Litzinger and her husband Tom of Rochester, N.Y., and Myrna McCarthy and her husband John of Beach Lake, Penn.; sisters: Emily Cadarett of Readfield, and Geraldine Olynick of Canton, Ohio; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Tammy Buchanan, and sister Eva McCarthy.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, at the North Vienna United Methodist Church, 572 Tower Rd., Vienna, with Rev. Laura Church officiating. Following the service, all are welcome to a reception being held at the church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter, 383 US Route One #2C, Scarborough, ME 04074.
