NEW SHARON – Bennett Joseph Ross Sr., 57, died on Feb. 6, 2014, at his home in New Sharon with his loving family by his side.
He was born on Jan. 4, 1957 in Farmington, the son of Harry and Kathleen (Gray) Ross. He was educated in the schools of Rangeley and graduated from high school in the class of 1975. On Sept. 24, 1977, he married Agnes Gould in Rangeley.
Over the years, he worked at Delbert Green’s, CA&T Lumber, Starbird’s Mill, Forster Mfg., Gagne & Sons, New England Plating (in Mass), Four Seasons and as a handyman. Bennett enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, camping and talking with anyone.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Agnes Ross of New Sharon; his sons, Charles Ross of New Sharon, Bennett Ross Jr. and wife Janey of Etna; his daughter, April Ross of New Sharon; his grandchildren, Logan Ross and Taylor Ross of New Sharon, Colby Ross of Etna; his brothers, Thomas Gray of Sandy River Plantation, George Ross Sr. and wife Madeline of Leicester, Mass., Raynold Ross and wife Heidi of Rangeley; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Donations in Bennett’s memory may be made to the Maine Cancer Foundation, 170 US Route 1, Suite 250, Falmouth, ME 04105.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dan & Scott’s Cremation & Funeral Service, 488 Farmington Falls Rd., Farmington, ME 04938.

As a child , I knew Bennett and his family well.Nice people… I am sorry to hear of his passing, I am glad to see in his obituary that he was blessed with a loving family. God bless you all.

uncle benette was a wonderful person a husband a father grandfather uncle brother a handy man those who knew benette would always say what a guy he is an amazing person all around you will be missed when im fishing i will think of all the times we had together and laugh because i know im still catching the biggest fish but you will always have the biggest fish story no matter the size of it you were my uncle but you always treated me like a son thank you you taught me alot about live in general and every time i go through new sharon i will remember you i love you with all my heart and will miss you even more now that you lay down to rest with the best let the good lord keep you and all the angels shining on us here on earth

My thoughts are with Aggie and his wonderful children. Bennett was an amazing man with a heart of gold. He helped me through my life as a child and an adult. He always gave from the heart and did for others with out even being asked. My father loved the chair he made for him. A handy man he was but with the heart to go in it. Thank-you for the wonderful memories you left with me and my family. We will never forget and when we remember there will be a smile on our faces thinking of you. Rest in peace my dear cousin from the one you called kid.
Uncle Bennett and Aggie are the only relative’s on my MOM’s side that I have known and have so many memories of threw out my life . The Uncle that showed me how to fish giving me that unforgettable feeling one gets when the fish takes your line and the fight is on . I loved spending the night as a kid because there was all ways people laughing and having fun spending time with each other . Uncle Bennett and Aggie is the one family that knows blood is thicker then water . A true Mainer , tougher then a bag of hammers with a heart to help everyone that he could. I see the same value’s in there children , think the sailor’s mouth on April came from Aggie . I will remember the deer / moose story till the day I die. Uncle Bennett will be missed by many because he was the one that would try and help to make things better for everyone he knew . Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you all . Those are the words Uncle Bennett said to me sitting in a wheel chair at mom’s wake .I was outside ready to leave the wake , couldn’t take anymore when someone said ROY uncle Bennett wants to see you . The one that I cared enough to step back into a room that most of the people were that didn’t want me there . To Aggie and Family , after Uncle Bennett said that to me I replied not what I need , please let me know if I can do anything for you . So please let me know.
Just because he’s gone don’t mean we won’t get his butt kicked because aunt Brenda will keep him in line so in that R I P big man we love you
