Brenda Stickney Devault (1950-2014)

AUBURN – Brenda Stickney Devault, 64, died peacefully at the Auburn Hospice House on Dec. 23, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Farmington on June 17, 1950, the daughter of Linwood and Peggie Stickney.

For the past several years she worked at Food City in Wilton where she became know as Granny. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and many many crafts. She was an avid NASCAR fan rooting for Dale Jr.

Brenda was survived by her mother Peggie Stickney of Wilton, brother Michael of Wilton, sister Susan and her husband Jeff of Steep Falls; her three children: Robert Neuschwanger and wife Liz of Wilton, Tammy Berrigan and husband John of North Charleston, S.C., and Kelly Hewett of Wilton; 10 grandchildren of Wilton and South Carolina.

Brenda was predeceased by her father Linwood Stickney.

A celebration of life will be held at the Wilton Lions Hall (formerly the Wilton Legion Hall) on New Years Day, Jan. 1 at 1 p.m.

  2. Prayers go out to Brenda’s family. She gave it her all. She made the best of an endless journey. I will never forget all those Chemo treatments when she made a difference as we sat there for hours. RIP my friend.

  4. Never forget all the good times we had at WA, the dual babysitting jobs we shared, times at the Roller Rink and spending so many happy times at your house. Rest now Brenda, your suffering is over.

  5. It is hard knowing that another dear classmate has left us. Brenda you always had a smile and was willing to do most anything. We had some crazy times like sneaking up on the boys at the lake while they were smoking and going for a boat ride. Boy did they curse us when we tipped the boat over on them but they took us for a ride anyways. Our class was one of the best and I will always think of you as young and happy. May God comfort those that were left behind and forever hold you in his arms

  6. I have many memories of Brenda and family while we all lived on High Street in Wilton. Brenda was one of the first friendly faces I met when our family moved ot Wilton. So sorry to hear of her passing.

  7. My heart goes out to Brenda’s family, and to Leslie her Best Friend of 48 years. Thoughts and prayers for all. I met Brenda many years ago through Leslie, and have been blessed to witness the true bond of love – friendship they shared. Rest in Peace Brenda – you were always upbeat and positive throughout your illness, and you had your sidekick beside you all the way! <3
