Burial service held for Arlene M. Bernard Castonguay
JAY - A Mass of Christian Burial for Arlene M. Bernard Castonguay, 81, of Jay was celebrated 9AM, Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the St. Rose of Lima with Rev. Thomas Lequin, celebrant.
Pallbearers for Arlene’s services were members of her family, Doug Coombs, Bert Poisson, Mike Wright, Allison Coombs, Cherie Parker and Dorine Wright. Arlene’s daughters, Barbara Poisson, Rosanna Coombs, Angela Beckwith and Francine Castonguay placed the pall on their mother’s casket after the blessing upon entering church. Granddaughters, Allison Coombs and Dorine Wright offered the readings and during the Sign of Peace, Cherie, Isaac and Cherie Parker placed roses on Arlene’s casket in front of the altar. The Gifts were brought forward to the priest by daughters, Francine Castonguay and Barbara Poisson.
Hymns during Mass sang by the Resurrection Choir were, “Peace is Flowing,” “Here I am Lord,” “On Eagle’s Wings,” “Be Not Afraid,” “Saints of God,” “Come Home” and “Ave Maria” offered by Don Lesuer.
Interment followed at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Livermore Falls where immediate members of her family placed roses on her casket including granddaughters, Erika and Shawnna Beckwith. Prior to Mass, readings at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 308 Franklin Rd., Jay and one of Arlene’s favorite hymns, “The Old Rugged Cross” was sang by Valerie Bernard.
A time of refreshment and fellowship following her services was hosted by her family at LaFleur’s Restaurant in Jay.
