NEW SHARON – Charles Scott Wingfield, 58, passed away at his home in New Sharon on January 4, 2013.

He was born on Nov. 3, 1954 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was the oldest of three children to Dorothy and Charles Wingfield.

After graduating from Unity College in 1979, he moved to Rangeley, Maine where he worked as an independent contractor for nearly two decades. In the summer of 1996, shortly after he had returned to school, Scott and his family moved to New Sharon, Maine. After receiving his Masters degree in Physical Therapy from Simmons College in Boston, Mass. in 1998, he began working as a Physical Therapist at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, Maine. During his twenty years in Rangeley, Scott developed a passion for the outdoors, spending much of his free time with a fly rod in hand and a dog at his side. Scott was an avid reader as well as a skilled finished carpenter.

Scott is survived by his son, Dylan Wingfield of Brewer; daughter Melissa Wingfield of Brewer; the mother of his children, Francine Nylund of Brewer; brothers Dan and Paul Wingfield of Huntington, New York; and his niece and nephew, Victoria and Philip Wingfield of Huntington, New York. The family would like to give a special thanks to a close group of friends in the Farmington area that supported him in his later years.

  3. I was saddened to hear of Scott’s passing. I enjoyed working with him at FMH in years past, especially our political discussions. My condolences to his family.

  4. Scott, may you find peace and light. Thanks for the great memories of growing up together in Manhasset and attending the same prep school in Massachusetts. I am only sorry that we never connected again after I moved to California and you to Maine. Condolences to your family with special thoughts to Dan and Paul.
