ANSON – Christopher “Shemp” Kennedy Nelson, 41, passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 11, 2013, with his faithful canine companion, Sully, by his side.

Christopher was born on June 17, 1972, in Los Angeles, Calif. He was educated in the Skowhegan school system and attended The University of Maine in Augusta. Chris worked for Hudson News, RPM for 14 years.

He was an avid sports fan of the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins and Celtics. Chris’ hobbies included his love of reading, especially books written by Stephen King, as well as true crime books. Chris loved to go fishing with his brother and best friend, Jeremy whenever he could. His love of music included Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Garth Brooks, Hank Williams, and Stevie Nicks.

Chris could often be found at McDonald’s enjoying his favorite meal of two Big Macs, fries and a Coke. Christopher entertained his family and friends with his wonderful sense of humor and wit.

Chris was a compassionate, loving, wonderful man, with a heart of gold who loved and enjoyed his family, friends and life.

Christopher is survived by his loving parents, Alan H. Nelson, Sr., and Sheila L. (Arris) Nelson of Anson. His siblings include: Laurie Nelson Knight of Anson, Darcy Nelson and her fiancé, Scott Newell of San Diego, Calif.; Alicia Nelson Driskill and her husband, Tim Driskill of Huntsville, Ala.; Alan Nelson, Jr. and his wife, DJ Nelson of Brandon, Florida; Bryan Nelson of Pittsfield; Jeremy Nelson of Anson; Melissa Nelson and her companion Brad Zinkovitch of Anson. Several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Chris had a very special place in his heart for Shane.

You will be forever missed we love you, Mom and Dad.

Services will be held at the Calvary Pentecostal Church 160 Old Point Ave, Madison on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at 2 p.m. A celebration of life will follow immediately after the service.
