Conrad A. Gravel (1955-2014)

AUBURN – Conrad A. Gravel, 59, of East Wilton passed away on Monday, Sept. 15, 2014 at the Androscoggin Hospice House.

He was born in Lewiston on May 12, 1955, the son of Noel and Francoise Gravel. He was educated in Lewiston schools, enlisted in the U.S. Army, and later in the Army Reserves. He spent most of his working years in the trucking industry.

He adored spending time getting to know his grandchildren, they meant the world to him. He enjoyed NASCAR, skeet shooting, mud running and fishing. A couple of the sayings Conrad was well known for saying were: “Dammit man!” and “You can’t fix stupid.”

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife Sally M. Gravel of E. Wilton, a daughter, Stephanie Nettles and her husband Charles of Greenwood, S.C.; two sons: Scott Gravel and his wife Stephanie of Winthrop, and David Gravel of Norwalk, Conn.; five grandchildren: Cameron, Travis, and Jaden Gravel, and Ryan and Kaylee Nettles; five sisters: Diane Talon of Turner, Linda Murch and her husband Walter of New Sharon, Elaine Ecker of Sabattus, Gail Carlson and her husband John of E. Wilton, and Kim Karkos and her companion David Spugnardi of Lewiston; a brother Daniel Gravel of Dayton; nephews: Joshua Carlson, Matthew Carlson, Rider Morlock, Isaac Karkos, and many more. Also, his “kids” Georgie and Fluff as well as Brin who fondly knew him as the ‘Biscuit Man.’ He was predeceased by his parents.

A Celebration of his Life will be held Saturday Sept. 20, 2014 from 5-9 p.m. in the upper room at Calzolaio Pasta Co. in Wilton. Arrangerments are under the direction of Adams-McFarlane Funeral & Cremation 108 Court St. Farmington. Donations may be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
