WATERVILLE – On Aug. 15, 2014 at 8:50 am Dawn Andrea (Gurney) McAleer passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Inland Hospital in Waterville, surrounded by family after a long and tiring battle with C.O.P.D.

She was born to Donald (duck) Gurney and Gloria Gurney on February 02, 1954 and was educated in the schools of Fairfield.

She worked for Klearview Manor for several years as Supervisor of Housekeeping, after giving up her job at Klearview Manor due to C.O.P.D. she became a homemaker where she had a unique way with christmas lights whether inside her home or her backyard all year long. she loved yard saleing, doing puzzles and reading in bed at night while eating her candy. Dawn always had a special place in her heart for children and animals.

We would like to give a special thanks to the nurses on the med-surge unit at Inland Hospital for taking special care of her.

She is survived by her husband Rod of 34 years, her step-mother Helen Gurney of Benton, Her daughter Lisa and her spouse Louis of N.H. her son Justin and his spouse Melissa of Winslow. Three step-brothers- Steve Proctor and his spouse Gay of Lincoln, Jimmy Proctor and his spouse Stephanie of Benton and Glenn Proctor and his spouse Karen of Benton. 8 grandchildren and her lifelong friend Dee Dee Bureau of Fairfield.

She was pre-deceased by her father Donald, her mother Gloria, her two brothers Mark and Reagan and most recently her beloved dog Maggie.

There will be no services at this time, A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
