AUGUSTA – Dianne Annette (Simmons) Grenier, 70, passed away Feb. 25, 2015 at Maine General Medical Center, surrounded by her family.
She was born Sept. 16, 1944 in Damariscotta, the daughter of Pearl A. and Ida M. (Sprague) Simmons.
After Dianne received her GED, she continued her education at the University of Maine Augusta, graduating in 1976 with an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing, received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Maine Augusta in 1993, then completed her education in 1995 with a Master’s of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Maine Orono. She was employed at MaineGeneral for over 37 years.
Dianne is survived by her husband of 37 years, Richard E. Grenier of Winslow; 2 daughters, Connie Laliberte and husband Red of Sidney, and Lori Barnard of Winslow; 3 granddaughters, Keisha, Stasha, and Tia Baldwin, all of Winslow; 4 siblings, Evelyn Reed, Wayne Simmons, Wendell Simmons, and Rose Hill; 3 step-daughters, Dawn Bilodeau and husband Paul of Boynton Beach, Fl., Tammy Hopkins and husband Buster of Plymouth Me., Catherine Nelson and husband Ronald of East Amherst, NY.; sister-in-law, Rae-Jean (Grenier) Beane and friend Dickie Pullen; 8 step-grandchildren; 5 step-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by 6 siblings, Lester Simmons, Madeline Ross, Thomas Simmons, Dorothy Jackson, Pearl Simmons, and Stanley Simmons; step-daughter, Cynthia Grenier; father-in-law, Ned Betit; mother-in-law, Cecile Betit.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the nurses on 2 West, Caitlyn and Sarah and also security guard, Ben Jandreau at MaineGeneral for the care, support, and respect given to Dianne.
A Celebration of Life will be held March 28, 2015 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at the home of Red and Connie Laliberte, 3071 West River Road, Sidney, ME.
In lieu of flowers, friends wishing, may make donations in Dianne’s memory to MaineGeneral Education Fund, 35 Medical Center Parkway, Augusta, ME 04330.
