FARMINGTON – The heavens took Dorothea “Dot” Tyler home on Sunday May 10, 2015.

During Dot’s 85 years of life she was a daughter, a sister, a friend, a mother, a wife, an aunt, grandmother, great aunt, great-great aunt, great-great grandmother (Nana), cousin, home maker, and mentor. She worked as a CNA in the Franklin County area.

Dorothea (Dot) Bachelder Tyler was born on June 12, 1929 to Moses and Emmaline (Harding) Bachelder. Dot is survived by her daughter, Ernestine Dyer Shemwell, a step-daughter, Idell and her husband Stan Wnuk; brother Lewis (Sonny) Bachelder and his wife Ruby; grandchildren, Lesia Shemwell, Shannon Elkins and her husband Delano (Rick), and Leah Christen and her partner Roger Briscoe III; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.

Dot was predeceased by her husband Herman ‘Ray’ Tyler; her siblings, Orri, George, Myrtle, Onel, and Moses Jr. Bachelder, and Pat, Eddie, Catherine, Meldred, and Olive Marsten, as well as her sister-in-law and longtime friend Mary Bachelder.

Family would like to invite relatives and friends of Dot to join us in a celebration of life 3 p.m. on Monday June 1, 2015 at the Western Mountains Baptist Church 929 Carrabassett Rd (Rte. 27), New Portland, with Pastor Tom Dubois officiating. Interment will follow at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Kingfield, ME., followed by a gathering and food at the church.

The family and friends of Dot would like to extend a special thank you and express great appreciation and gratitude to those that helped in the arranging of Dot’s celebration of life.
