Dorothy O. Lawton (1926 – 2012)
WATERVILLE - Dorothy O. (Leavitt-Glotz) Lawton, age 86, died Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Oak Grove Center in Waterville. She was born March 19, 1926 in Norridgewock, the daughter of Ulrich Leavitt and Daisy Gage.
She lived her childhood and early adult years in Oakland and married Peter (Norman) Glotz in 1949. Several years later, they had one child, daughter Shirley. They moved to Waterville in 1955. In 1968, after Peter's death, Dorothy married Gerald Lawton. She worked several years at Colby College as a dietary technician.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Shirley Breznyak and life partner Dick Thebarge of Skowhegan; 7 grandchildren, John Mincher III and wife Elizabeth of Limerick, Timothy Mincher of Bethleham, Pennsylvania, Larry Huggins of Skowhegan, Christopher Huggins of Bucksport, Michelle Breznyak of Skowhegan, and Melissa Breznyak of Waterville; 3 great grandsons, Casey Mincher, Steven Lopez, Jr., and Giovanni Garcia; 4 great granddaughters, Hailey, Marnell, Carrie, Chelsea, Leah Mincher; soon to debut, great granddaughter, Malia Santos; special niece, Mrs. Ralph Farnham, Jr. (Donna) of Oakland; favorite nephew, Raymond Robinson, Jr. and wife Lorainne of Vassalboro, grand niece, Diane Pinkham and husband Dennis who helped out in her last years; several grand nieces, grand nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by husband Peter Glotz in 1962; husband Gerald Lawton in 1983; her parents; 3 brothers, Kenneth, Earle, and Bernard Leavitt; her only sister, Ruth (Leavitt) Robinson, and niece Dale Jean Hayden; grandson, Peter N. Mincher on December 23, 2011.
The family would like to thank the staff at Oak Grove Center in Waterville for the care and affection given to Dorothy.
At her request, there will be not public visitation hours or funeral service.
