“Came into this world extraordinary, went out extraordinary”

BELGRADE – Erik Raymond Naslund, a life-long resident of Belgrade, was affectionately known as “Goob” by his family. He was brought into this world on May 29, 2001. Erik was born in an unanticipated yet marvelous manner in the passenger’s seat of his parents Bronco at 12:41 at night, en route to the hospital, bringing joy to us all ever since his arrival. He has always been a kind, gentle, sympathetic, innocent, and playful boy who wore his heart on his sleeve, always trying to put a smile on the faces of those around him. He was his Daddy’s helper, his Mommy’s snuggle-buddy, and his sister’s sidekick.

In his thirteen years on this Earth, he grew to love many people and became interested in many activities both old and new. His big, warm, and loving heart cared deeply for his friends and family. He cared especially for his parents, who tucked him into bed, kissing him goodnight each and every night, as well as his older sister Katie, who Erik lovingly dubbed “Kay-Kay” at a young age. He had a special place in his heart for all animals, especially his pets. Howie, his rescue cat, and Bella, his beloved pooch, were by far his favorites and the loves of his life. He was beloved by many, even by his favorite barber, Donald Bean.

Some of his favorite activities were flexing his skills in baseball or in Airsoft. He enjoyed playing video games, as well as designing and competing in Minecraft. With his family and friends, he enjoyed traveling and taking special trips. In the summers, Erik loved to swim in the pool and loved going to the beach. He loved a wide range of topics and was bit of a history buff, loving military history, old movies, biplanes, and old cars, especially ’57 Chevy’s. But of all these passions, his greatest however was playing, creating and building with LEGOs. He spent many hours reading, researching, planning, building and displaying his creations, always trying to achieve bigger and better. He even had his own special Lego room meant just for his building and for his completed projects. This year, he even went to a convention for Lego enthusiasts, both young and old. Erik had aspirations of creating his own custom Lego business this year wanting to be the youngest Internet Lego entrepreneur, and had dreams of one day becoming an airline pilot.

Erik grew ill in an unexpected and life-changing manner, and despite his condition growing worse each day, his big heart went on long enough to say his last goodbyes. Erik joined the angels on Sept. 11, 2014 at 2:57 p.m. in the afternoon.

Erik is survived by his parents, Raymond and Vaughan, his older sister, Katelyn, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Our deepest gratitude and thanks to Erik’s entire team in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Maine Medical Center, Dr. Matthew Sanborn and the Ronald McDonald House. A Celebration of Life is to be determined at a later date; Donations can be made to the Ronald McDonald House in Portland, in honor of Erik.

“Erik’s life is full of blank pages… Sleep with the angels, our precious son. We love and miss you, always Goob Man.”

Arrangements under the care and direction of Dan & Scott’s Cremation & Funeral Service, 445 Waterville Road, Skowhegan, Maine 04976.
