  4. Sarah and Family: I remember Eve as a gentle, kind spirit. I had the privilege to share some early childhood years with her on the farm in Hebron. I used to be scared to go upstairs to bed and she often let me sleep with her. She had a keen sense of know what others needed and reached out. Her mother, Gert, my stepmother, was no different. I’ve always said that Gert treated us, her stepchildren, equal to her own. Eve and my sister, Elaine, were close back then. I have wonderful memories of the farm – because of Eve and Gert.

Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
