FARMINGTON — Gertrude “Joyce” Dalton, 83, passed on to our loving Creator on May 18, 2016 at Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center, surrounded by loved ones.

She was born on Jan. 30, 1933 in Canton, the daughter of the late William and Pearl (Wallingford) Jordan. Joyce lived most of her life in Riley, where she shared many years raising five children, with their father Gilbert Dalton.

Joyce was a loving “Gram” to all. As a devoted mother and grandmother, she enjoyed cookouts, gardening and listening to country music and collecting new recipes.

She is survived by her sister, Phyllis Briggs and her husband Dale of Dixfield; four sons, Rexton Dalton of Riley, Randall Dalton and his wife Donna of Canton, Reginald Dalton of Florida, and Ronald Dalton and his companion Dianna of Riley; one daughter, Linda Jacques of Wilton; 12 grandchildren, Lucas, Morgan, Hunter, Gregory, Krystal, Amanda, Zachary, Lesley, Doug, Heidi, Sarah, and Jonathan; four great grandchildren, Wyatt, Gage, Brianna, and Addison; and many cousins, nieces and nephews; as well as the mothers of her grandchildren, Bonnie Chasse, Cheryl Dalton, Vicky (White) Dalton, and Eileen (Nile) McDonald.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the truly caring staff members at both Franklin Memorial Hospital and The Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center. A celebration of life ceremony to be announced at a late date.

  1. I will always remember how you took me and my daughter in and lived us …I was your step daughter and truly treated you like my real mom. I enjoyed going shopping for you getting your news papers lugging wood making you suppers 2-3 times a week. I enjoyed most of all our privacy talks when you would walk up and visit me and your best friend. We sure did have some good laughs and serious talks. I love you and miss you very much. You will never be forgotten until we meet again♡♡♡

  2. Joyce, you was a great step mom to me an a great step grammie to my son…you always helped me out when I needed it.you treated us like family..I will miss you an I love you…you will never be forgotten. …I am sure my dad was at the gates of Heaven waiting for you…R.I.P JOYCE…NO MORE SUFFERING…

  3. I enjoyed Grammy Dalton (Joyce) when she come to Tom & Bonnie Chasse for the 4th of July gathering also when I go to Jay/ Livermore area to visit the Dalton’s. She was always there with a smile and very pleasant to be around. I thank the family for letting me in all of these years because I really enjoyed the time. May she rest in Peace and she is another Angel to look over us with that big smile.
