MADISON – Gladys F. Seavey, 92, passed away Oct. 16, 2016 at Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan surrounded by her family.

She was born Dec. 17, 1923 in Yarmouth, the daughter of Chester and Alice (Goldrup) Stetson.

She was employed for many years at Norwock shoe shop, was a school crossing guard for Skowhegan, and an animal officer for many years in Norridgewock. She was a member of the First congregational Church in Norridgewock, a deaconess for many years, Norridgewock Grange where she held many different positions and held several positions in the Rebeccas. Gladys loved get togethers with family and friends, loved the children she kept safe while being a school crossing guard, fishing, and her flower beds.

Gladys is survived by her daughter, Joyce Stubenrod and husband Charles of Benton; three granddaughters, Wanda Chadbourne and husband Tim of Skowhegan, Pamela Spaulding and husband Brian of Clinton, Kimberly Chadbourne and husband Bob of Skowhegan; three grandsons, Kevin Lewis and wife Margie of Skowhegan, Douglas Lewis and wife Joanne of Harmony, Daniel Lewis of Harmony; two sisters, Iona “Pat” Steward of Waterville, Jeanette White of Dixfield; sisters-in-law, Kris Stetson, Julie Ward; many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husbands, Sherman Seavey and Bernard Lewis; son, Bernard “Frank” Lewis.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 at 9 a.m. at the 1st Congregational Church, Norridgewock with Reverend Nathan Richards officiating.
