SKOWHEGAN – Gwendolyn Adrith (Russell) Corson, 71, passed away on Sept. 16, 2014, at her home in Skowhegan.

She was born on Sept. 14, 1943 in Skowhegan, the daughter of Gorden Aubert and Rosa Elizabeth (Sidell) Russell. She was educated in local area schools, graduated from Skowhegan High School in 1961, then continued her education at Beal College (formerly Skowhegan Business School) and graduated in 1963.

She was employed at W.T. Grants, and Skowhegan Laundry, and worked for 25 years with the Maine District Court until she retired. She continued to work for several years part time, ending her career at Farmington where she continued to attend many social events with co-workers and friends.

She was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church of Skowhegan, active member of the Athens Grange and East Madison Grange 228 for 53 years. She enjoyed knitting and reading.

Gwendolyn is survived by her daughter, Vanessa Thompson and husband Edward; son, Scott Corson; granddaughter, Megan Ellis and husband Jamie; two great grandsons, Wyatt Salsibury and Brody Ellis; great granddaughter, Tacoma Thompson; two sisters, Shawna Elliott and husband Blaine, Wanda Hemond; mother, Rosa Elizabeth Russell; brother, Sanford Russell and wife Janet; best friend, Ginny Lake; special friends, Susan Shaw and Mikey Smith; many family and friends.

She was predeceased by her father, Gordon Russell; and brother, Aaron Russell.

A memorial service will be held at the Skowhegan Methodist Church on the Dr. Mann Road at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, with a gathering to follow in the church fellowship hall.
