Harry J. Barney, Jr. (1946-2012)

LIVERMORE FALLS – Harry J. Barney, Jr., 66, of Livermore Falls died early Monday morning at his home with family at his side.

He was born in Oakland on Jan. 25, 1946, a son of Harry J. and Irene (Decker) Barney, Sr. and was a graduate of Skowhegan High School. Mr. Barney was employed at Norwock Shoe and later at GH Bass and Co. as a pattern maker and participated in many industry shows.

He enjoyed gardening, yard work, camping, and loved rock and roll music and dancing. On Jan. 12, 1974, he married Lorraine Putnam in Livermore Falls, who predeceased him on March 5, 2005.

He is survived by his two sons, Steve Chicoine of Chelsea and Larry Chicoine and his wife, Diane of Fayette; a very special grandson who was like a son to him, Andy Chicoine and his wife, Theresa and their children Tyler and Ashley all of Livermore Falls; grandsons, Steven J. Chicoine of Portland and Jason and Toby Chicoine both of Fayette, and a grand daughter, Brittany Stockmar of Augusta; five great grandchildren; a special sister-in-law who was like a daughter to him, Patricia Lyon of South  Carolina; special daughter-in-law, Alice Chicoine of Windsor; a sister, Sandy Whittemore and her husband, Dave and their family of Madison; and two daughters from a previous marriage, Michelle and Kimberly.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 308 Franklin Road, Jay. Relatives and friends are invited to call one hour prior to the services. Interment will follow services at Pleasant View Cemetery in Livermore Falls. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be offered to Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice, 15 Strawberry Ave., Lewiston, ME 04240.
