BANGOR – Helen Ruth Pelletier, 82, passed away March 20, 2015 at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor with her family at her side.
Helen was born May 11, 1932 in Eagle Lake, the daughter of William J. and Viola B. (Laferrier) Furlong.
Helen was educated in Eagle Lake Schools and graduated from the Madawaska Training School for Teachers. After completing her schooling, she relocated to Skowhegan with her husband Harold.
Helen spent many years employed by Sampson’s Supermarket, and then the Hannaford Bros. of Skowhegan, where she worked in their deli and bakery departments. She always enjoyed joking that “it was time to make the donuts!” …and she DID make the best donuts!
Helen enjoyed gardening. She also loved her daily soap operas and Food Network, but most of all, she enjoyed cooking for herself and her family.
Helen is survived by 5 children, Pam McCarthy and husband Bruce, Martha Pelletier, Dawn Petrello and partner Bruce Bourgoin, Mary Mathieu and partner Brandon Groh, Michael Pelletier and wife Mary Jane; 3 sisters, Rella Labbe and husband Norman, Elsie Dubey, and Elizabeth Tardiff; brother-in-law, Norman Labbe. Helen loved her 14 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harold J. Pelletier, her son, Bruce, and daughter, Janice. She was also predeceased by siblings, Mary, William, Frances, Robert, Roger, and Rodney.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at the Dialysis Clinic of Skowhegan, and her favorite KVCAP driver, Steve. Their loyalty and care is greatly appreciated.
A Celebration of Life will be held for immediate family, with a burial following in the spring.
