BINGHAM – Herschel W. Dolbier, Sr., 90 of Rangeley, died Sunday evening, Feb. 27, 2011 at the Somerset Rehab Center in Bingham.
He was born Aug. 7, 1920 in New Portland, the son of Phillip and Leana (Mamie) Dolbier and received his education in local schools. During World War II he served in the Navy SeeBee’s as a CM1 (MCB) in New Guinea from 1942-1946.
Herschel made his home in Stonington, Conn., where he worked at General Dynamics, Electric Boat Division in Groton and he retired in 1985. In 1994, he moved to Rangeley. He was a life member of the Coastal Masonic Lodge 57 AF and AM of Stonington, Conn. and he enjoyed wood working, the annual hunting trip with the “guys,” gardening, and traveling.
Survivors to cherish his memories are his son, Herschel “Butch” Dolbier, Jr. and his wife Jean; three grandsons, Noel and his wife Kim, BJ and his wife Yae, and Tom; three great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Louise Doak and Jean Grant of Rangeley; brother-in-law, George Grant and his wife Marguerite of AL; niece, Bonnie Grant-Berry and her husband Don of Palm Harbor, FL; her son, Frank Satriano, Jr. and his wife Leanne and their children, Grant and Erika of Oldsmar, Tenn.; her daughter, Rebecca Grant Seeburger and her husband Joseph, Lt. Cmdr. USN of Spring Hill, Tenn., nephews, David Batchelder and his wife Jerri of Mass.; John Dolbier and his wife Carol of Mont.; Colby Robinson and his wife Bonnie.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 47 years, Doris Grant; a brother, Chester; and a sister, Great Robinson.

Public memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. from the Church of the Good Shepherd, Main Street, Rangeley. Interment will follow with military honors at the Evergreen Cemetery in Rangeley. Following the interment, a reception will be held in the undercroft of the church hosted by the ECW.

Cremation and memorial services are being cared for and provided by the Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington.
