Hildreth Opal (Davis) Sinclair
CORNVILLE - Hildreth Opal (Davis) Sinclair, 87, went home to be with her lord and savior on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at home with her family by her side.
She was born in Wellington on Oct. 28, 1924, the daughter of Roy Clinton and Addie Ella (Carle) Davis.
She attended Wellington Elementary and Senior High School and completed her public education to grade 10. In Harmony, on Nov. 25, 1940, she married the love of her life, her best friend, her soul mate, Benjamin Sinclair. Opal dedicated much of her time in prayer for her family and those she came in contact with. She was well loved by many for her kindness and gentle spirit.
Over the years she worked for a number of businesses including, Skowhegan Spinning Mill, Norwock Shoe Company, Dexter Shoe Company, and New Balance Shoe where she retired. Opal had many hobbies and interests including being a member of the Skowhegan First Church of the Nazerene since 1955, teaching Sunday school for 33 years and serving on the church board. She enjoyed camping, cooking, the challenge of puzzles, crocheting, knitting, plastic canvas, and gardening. Opal loved to spend time with her wonderful friends and especially loved the special times with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Benjamin Sinclair of Cornville and her three children, son, Gary Sinclair and wife Lisa, daughter, Darlene and husband George Arnold Jr. and daughter, Sharon and husband Daniel Kinney all of Cornville. Grandchildren, Robert McGowan Jr., Ryan McGowan and wife Joni, Broc McGowan and wife Jenny, Jan Wilkerson and husband Will, Jared Sinclair, Derrick Kinney and wife Kim, Curt Kinney and wife Heather, Stephanie Furbush and husband Westley. She has 3 step grandchildren Lindsay, Brittany and Ben, 13 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a sister Dora Gardiner of Dexter and Helen Vanderbilt of Illinois.
She is predeceased by her siblings Ruth Bergman, Marguerite Hamilton, Elwin Davis, Edward Davis, Horace Davis, Kenneth Davis, Lewis Davis, and Earle Davis.
Funeral Services will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, July 29, 2012 at the Skowhegan First Church of the Nazerene with Reverends Brian Hale and Eric Larsen officiating with visitation hours starting at 2 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to make donations in Opal’s memory to the Skowhegan First Church of the Nazerene.
