FARMINGTON – James Lloyd Snell, 70, went to be with his Lord on August 14, 2013, peacefully asleep, at Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center in Farmington.

He was born on January 11, 1943 in Farmington, the son of Charles and Eugenia (Hoffman) Snell. He attended school in Strong.

He served four years in the Navy and finished his schooling. He married Jane Campbell in 1964. He lived and worked in Strong at various mills, shops and stores over the years. He attended and graduated from Central Maine Community College in 2002 with a degree in carpentry which he enjoyed doing until he suffered a stroke in 2008. He was an avid Red Sox fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved taking his grandchildren fishing and playing golf. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Johnson/Cox Post #78 in Strong. He was also a photographer, enjoying taking pictures at family weddings and events.

He is survived by; his wife of 49 years, Jane Snell of Strong; two daughters, Debbie McKinney of Tampa, FL, Lorrie Kaplan and husband James of Chesterville; two brothers, Charles Henry Snell of Strong, Les Snell and wife Betty of Strong; six grandchildren, Brian Snell and wife Brandi of Foxborough, MA, Kenny (Mac) McKinney of Tampa, FL, Marissa Garcia of Tampa, FL, Belinda Howard and fiance Jerry Norton and his children Zoey Teal and Willow Norton of Stratton, Ariel Kaplan and fiance Travis Gourley of Chesterville, Dalton Kaplan of Chesterville; one great granddaughter, Marilyn Norton of Stratton; many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by; his parents; two brothers, Joseph Snell and Thomas (Bobby) Snell; one sister, Jeanette Ellis.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff at Edgewood and Beacon Hospice for the care and support that they gave to him and his family.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 3 PM at the Living Waters Assembly of God Church, 547 Wilton Rd., Farmington with Pastor Steve Bracy officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dan & Scott’s Cremation & Funeral Service, 488 Farmington Falls Rd., Farmington, ME 04938.
